Footnotes Established 1983 April 2015 Indianapolis, IN If you could not attend our 32 nd anniversary dance, you missed a spectacular event! (See page 5 for pictures.) But let me say this, while all of our parties offer the best in fun and great dancing, our ticketed events can t be beat and this event was no different. Thanks to Serendipity owner and Indy Dancers member Rhonda Coulter for the wonderful food and the beautifully decorated room. Also, thanks to Harriet for the great dance music, and Scott, Yulia and Jeanne Tarleton for their beautiful performances. All of you made our anniversary celebration very special. Now, get ready for some springtime fun! Have you seen the movie Chicago? This dark comedy takes place in the roaring 20s and is filled with great music and dancing. So, put on your flapper dresses, feather boas and pinstripe suits for some gang-busting fun. And of course, we will learn the dance of that time the jitterbug!! Oh, come hungry because we will serve pizza Chicago style!! I also want to encourage you to become involved in your club. Nothing is more fun and rewarding than helping to plan activities and/or serve as an officer. So, why not consider volunteering a little of your time? As a reminder, we will be accepting nominations for officers during next month s meeting. If you have questions, please see me. Also, I love to help dancers, especially those new to dance. I want you to get the most out of Scott and Yulia's dance lesson, but if you have trouble with the rudimentary steps, come and see me before the dance lesson. I am usually at the dance venue about 30 minutes before the lesson. If you have any questions about certain dance steps or technique, I m available to help you. When dancing a progressive dance (fox-trot, polka, waltz, etc.) move in a counter-clockwise fashion around the outside edge of the dance floor. 2. Slower dancers using side movements or stop-and-go patterns should dance in an imaginary inside lane, also counter-clockwise. 3. Dancers who stay in the same spot (swing, cha-cha, freestyle, line dance, etc.) should keep to the center, leaving the outside edge of the dance floor open. 4. Be polite and courteous, even when collisions occasionally occur. Remember courtesy is contagious! 5. Other General Rules: a. Never carry a drink onto the dance floor. b. Never back up against the line of dance. c. Line dancers should form several small lines rather than extended one line which will block the fast lane. d.
