Pultneyville Yacht Club P Signals from the Commodore Only 88 days until launch! Welcome new members and welcome back returning members. We were just at the yacht club and all looked as we left it. Time to think about getting boats and the harbor ready. Teresa resigned her position as secretary and Marylee Gramlich has accepted the roll of secretary. I know we will all give her the support she needs to make this job manageable. Launch is April 29 th. April 22 nd will be Fleet Captain s work day and floating dock day. Also, this year we hope to finish the electric and water on the south shore. Thanks, in advance for your help. Steve Notes from the Vice Commodore Hope everyone had an enjoyable Holiday season. Here s to 2017, may it be another awesome boating season for all of us. Only 3 months until launch and we will have the boats back into the harbor and our 2017 season will begin. It has been a long winter, I am really looking forward to being warm again. We begin our season with our first event of the year, the PYC Winter Cabin Party. This year the PYC Winter Cabin Party is scheduled for Saturday March 11 th starting at 2pm @ Parkview Lodge in Webster Park on the corner of Holt/Lake Road. Thank you to Jack and Anneliesse Bopp for hosting our first event of the season. We still have a full calendar of events to fill in for this year. I will bring the signup sheet to the Cabin Party. Looking for someone or a team of people to host this year s Fall Banquet. It is very important to reserve a banquet location early in the year as places get booked up fast. If anyone has any other event ideas please email me your thoughts/ideas kathyfedick@gmail.com. If you have never hosted one of our events please don t be afraid to sign up there are plenty of people willing to assist you in making these successful events and it s a great way to meet new people. See attached PYC Winter Cabin Party flyer in this Soundings. Looking forward to a great boating season. Hope to see you at the Cabin party. Stay warm. P From the Engine Room This is the midwinter report from the engine room. Darn, it s cold and lonely down here. Everything is frozen. It is amazing that the ice in the harbor is not as thick as normal. I hope that means that there will not be as many docks to repair and straighten. My big concern is the annual concern that we have enough water to launch on April 29 th. The date sounds late, but the traditional launch date is the last Saturday in April, so we are right on the money. I have secured the date with Clark Crane (Boulter). April 22 nd will be Fleet Captain s workday to get the navigation aids in place and floating docks launched. Both of these days will count as a work day. I will be asking for help to get the work boat launched and running before the Fleet Captains work day. An aside, the ramp has been repaired and should be more usable this year. Thanks to the work crew that made that happen while the water was low. I would like to remind everyone that we are a working club. Each member is required to put in a full day to keep Pultneyville Yacht Club a show place on the south shore. There may be some changes in the workday schedule. The changes are just in the talking stage now. More information on the proposed changes at a later date. If anyone has a suggestion for improvements to the harbor and grounds give me a call, text, or e-mail. A final note. If you are at the club and note that the fork lift is missing don t panic. It is going in to have the hydraulic leaks repaired. Fleet Captain s Report Attached is the end of year results for 2016. Plan on joining us this year to see your name here next time!
