President s Message: SALEM GOLF CLUB FROM TEA TO GREEN APRIL 2017 Spring is here and things are heating up at the Club. The Miniature Masters Putt-Putt is back this year on Friday April 14 th. This was a successful and very fun event last year. Get your putter ready get signed up. Also, don t forget the Annual Easter Buffet. Chef Jerry and his staff always put on a great event. Our Golf Pro Tom Atchison is getting the shop stocked up and the staff ready. The Men s Locker Room is almost complete. We ran into a couple issues with the repair after the water damage but it is usable and looking very good. It will be finished up as soon as possible. We ve repaired a gap in the pavement outside the Golf Shop and diverted the downspouts which may have contributed to the water issue in addition to the backed up drain. Roy has been working very hard on membership. We won t have firm numbers until later this month but it appears that we will have a nice increase in new members. The last few years have been very challenging for our Club. I am very aware that everyone is interested in where we are with our membership numbers and budget so, to that end, I m preparing a special report to the membership. This will include some historical data and the latest number on members along with a copy of the 2017 budget. Keep your eye out for this later in this month. If you haven t done so already, check your family and friends and see if you could bring someone into the program this year. If you have questions about how the program works contact Roy and he ll be more than happy to work with you to bring some new folks in to experience the Salem Golf Club. See you at the club. Jim Smith
