There were 13 in attendance, including a new guest, Marc Tamayo. Bobbi filled in for our treasurer, Jan, and did a great job giving our expenses for the year, and our beginning balance for the season of $2920.12. Our trusty Commodore, John, thanked Jan Schumacher for being our continued webmaster, and to Art Twitchell for doing such a great job on the Newsletter. Old Business: Thank you went out to Ed and Lynn Sims for the ongoing use of their beach for many activities the club puts on. They hosted a beach clean-up day to help pick up all the debris from the hurricane. Jim, Ed and Ross will take care of the inquiry regarding the Sunfish sailboats for the club. New Business: Liz Schnebel will be selling the Stiletto 29, if anyone is interested. IRMA AFTERMAT APPRECIATION to OSC Club & it s Volunteers I'd like to thank the members of the Ocala Sailing Club, particularly those who were able to help out on very short notice on Sunday to clear Sim's beach in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma. I know that at the time we still had members without power, or had their own issues to address, and taking time away from those issues was not easy. Thanks to everyone. With the club's help, we were able to remove all the debris from the beach area and along the drive by late afternoon on Sunday. It's hard to say how much material was moved, but it made an impressive pile in the overflow parking area for the public boat ramp. There was some talk of using the pile for the bon fire, but I'm not sure the fire marshal would approve. A big thank you to Lynn, who fixed a really great lunch that day, which made going back to work in very nearly impossible. The general consensus was that a post-lunch nap was in order, but with the end in sight, the club work detail filed out of the shade and finished the job. Nice job everyone. We can now get boats all the way to the water. What you do with them from there is up to you. The Sunday work detail consisted of multiple crews. Art was reportedly periodically in charge of the upper area crew. Parris was in charge whenever Art wasn't (I have no idea how that worked out). Herb Moore and Bob Cole also pitched in and were a big help Art/Parris in the upper drive area. The heavy hauling crew included Ed and Paul, who dragged the extra large material up the hill. Ross Martin, Bob Cole, and myself were responsible for cutting, loading, and unloading. In addition to their time, club members also brought trailers, chainsaws, and other tools for the work. Many thanks. There were some who helped on the previous day as well. Thanks to those members as well. With the sailing season right around the corner I'd be remiss if I didn't encourage the club to get out on the water. There's a full calendar of club activities and plenty of racing opportunities coming up soon. The club schedule is out. Hopefully you'll be able to participate in some of the fun. As always, if you're interested, but aren't sure how to get involved, just ask. The club members are extraordinary people and will do their best to help you get your feet wet (maybe more than your feet, lol). Respectfully Submitted, James Edens - Vice Commodore This is the Last Page Page13
