Club Activities June 28 Meet & Eat My apologies there are no pictures from this great dinner. Members met at the Intermezzo at the Williams Center for dinner. The food was very good, and the company even better. There were at least 22 folks gathered for the event, AND NOT A CAMERA AMONG US! Jim and I had a great time talking to prospective new members, Hans and Eva Tannenberger. I only hope we didn t scare them away! It was also Marc s last function before taking off to the Middle East. Hopefully he and Karlyn had an enjoyable time. July 12 Breakfast Drive We had an overcast (cool and comfortable) morning for the July Breakfast Run. Herbie suggested an additional leg to the planned route, so Ben made a quick change and we were off - down the East side, through Vail and across Sahuarita to Old Nogales. This route is very picturesque with the mountains and the Sonoran Desert. The Ocotillo have already developed leaves from the recent rains. There were 9 cars and 10 people who made the drive to Sunny Daze Café on South Campbell. Sunny Daze is decorated with an interesting beach theme and the breakfast is great (the Chorizo, in particular). Make plans to be there for the next Breakfast Run! Story and pictures thanks to Newton
Drive Time In case you have not noticed we are still driving and enjoying our LBCs. Whether it s on a Saturday Breakfast Run or at the British Car Café we are there! Thanks to all the participants who are braving the summer heat and debris strewn roads. I have more events planned for our weekend morning drives, so put some gas in the tank while it s still under $5/gal. It is still amazing that a quick drive around Tucson for a $6 breakfast cost over $20 in the Jaguar. Guess I was lucky not to by one of them Ferraris right? Since my last report we have enjoyed two great events. First, we had a record crowd on June 28th for our monthly C&S (meet and eat in the summer) at a great restaurant Intermezzo. Good food, good friends and good fun. However, on a sad note our patronage was not sufficient to overcome a slow economy and Intermezzo closed its doors last Saturday. Too bad we lost another Tucson Original Restaurant. The 2nd Saturday Breakfast Run on July 12 was attended by 10 members in 9 old LBCs. For a July morning the weather was perfect. It was actually cool and overcast, but no rain. If you missed it you miss a great run. We added another 15+ miles to the original route after our members from Vail reported that their roads were debris free. There was no traffic and some of us made the run down Houghton without a single red light! The upcoming Cruise and Schmooze with be something different for July. I am working on an th th afternoon High Tea either on Saturday or Sunday, July 26 or 27. I am still waiting for confirmation as to number of people we can have and what time of day, so watch your emails and. The 2nd Saturday Breakfast Run on August 9th will be a real treat. We are invited to enjoy breakfast with Christine and Joe once again. They always put out a fine spread for all of us to enjoy. Thanks in advance Christine and Joe. So unlike other Breakfast Runs I will be asking for an RSVP on this one. I am still working on the route but the start will be at the AutoZone at Speedway and Silverbell on the SE side of Speedway. The summer departure time will be promptly at 7:00 AM and we will finish at Christine s home about 8:30 AM. Watch for more details. What else should you be doing with your LBCs? Well, if you want to shine it up and win a trophy nd th you only have 3 months until the 2 Annual Rotary Car show on October 18. If you want some top down driving fun, you better get all the bugs worked out to join in the first Arizona Roadrunner. Three days of fun, open roads and LBC owners who love to drive. That s Oct. 3-5, so check out the link to this event on. See you out there Ben Cohen, Driving Events Coordinator
