SUPPLEMENTARY REGULATIONS The Aintree Circuit Club invites you to compete at this new event using a new Sprint Course at Aintree s Historic Grand Prix track. We thank you for your interest and support and hope that you will enjoy our new event and Aintree s unrivalled facilities unique for a motorsport venue in the U.K. 1 The Aintree Circuit Club will organise a National B status event at The Aintree Grand Prix Circuit, Aintree Racecourse, Liverpool, on the 16 th May 2010 2 The Meeting will held under the General Regulations of the Motor Sport Association Ltd (incorporating the provisions of the International Sporting Code of the FIA), these Supplementary Regulations and any written instructions that the organising club may issue for the event. 3 M.S.A. M.S.A. National A (or higher grade) Race Licences are acceptable for competitors who do not possess a Speed Licence for the event. Competitors entering historic racing vehicles in their appropriate classes will not require a Vehicle Logbook in accordance with S9.1.7 AINTREE 55/55 G.P. 6 The Programme for the Meetings will be: - Scrutineering starts at 7.00am. Individual times of scrutineering will be notified in Final Instructions. Any competitor not signed on by 10.30am may be excluded. Practice starts at 10.00am. First timed runs start at the time advised by the Clerk of Course, on the day, dependant on relevant circumstances. A minimum of two timed runs will be given. 7 The length of the course is approx 600m and consists of the Start after Tatts Corner on the main Start and Finish Straight of the Historic Grand Prix Circuit and will comprise a combined ¼ mile speed trial then a left/right chicane followed by a short straight to the finish of the Sprint Course before Waterway Corner. 8 The classes for each event will be as listed on the attached appendix. All vehicles must comply with the 2010 MSA Technical Regulations. 9 Awards will be presented as follows: Fastest Time of the day Engraved Award 1st in Class Engraved Award (subject to 3 entries) 2nd in Class Engraved Award (subject to 5 entries) 3rd in Class Engraved Award (subject to 7 entries) 4th in Class Engraved Award (subject to 10 entries) Best ACC Member Engraved Award Best Presented Car Engraved Award No competitor may win more than two meeting awards with one car. The Competitor, who wins the FTD award, will receive this in place of their class award and the remaining competitors will be moved up to replace him, i.e. 2nd moves up to 1st, 3rd moves up to 2nd etc. in that class. Many drivers do not complete the section of the entry form showing expert/novice details. It will be assumed that in each case the driver concerned is an expert. ACC considers a novice as a driver who has not won a class award at an event of the same type and status for 3 years. 10 The entry list opens on publication of these Supplementary Regulations and closes 23 days prior to event date. The entry fee is 89.00. All entries must be made on the official entry form and accompanied by the appropriate fee. 5.00 discount for ACC members. The minimum entry is 85. The minimum in each class is 3. Should any of the above minimums not be reached, the organisers have the right to cancel the meeting or amalgamate classes as necessary. Entries will be accepted at the organisers discretion and in strict order of receipt. Entry fees will be refunded in accordance with H 31.1.2 less 10.00 administration fee, if notification is given in writing on or before 7 days prior to the event. 13 Noise testing WILL be carried out before any vehicle is allowed to practice. All vehicles must comply where appropriate with 2010 MSA yearbook J 5.17 and appendix 1 (chart 5.18). Silencing is not mandatory for vehicles of periods A to D, Formula 1 and other single seater racing cars of period E and F (J5.17.4) 14 Provisional results will be published in accordance with D26 as soon as possible after each run and following the end of the event, by electronic communication. Any competitor wanting a printed copy posted must provide a Stamped, self-addressed envelope to the Secretary of the Meeting 15 Any protests should be lodged in accordance with C 5.1 and C 5.2 of the 2010 MSA Yearbook. Classes will run in programme order. Cars will start singly. The starting signal will be a green light. The method of timing will be Electronic Class D. The finish line will be indicated by a chequered/finish board. A driver is under starter s orders as soon as they are called forward to the start line by the Start Marshal. Any driver who is not ready to proceed with in two minutes after being called forward will forfeit the run. Competitors are reminded that timing struts must be fitted as per the requirement of S 10.9. Shared vehicles - Cars will not be permitted to run with two sets of numbers displayed at the same time and competitors must display their correct number. Timekeepers are not bound to give times for vehicles incorrectly numbered. Please pay special attention to J 4 and S 9.2.5 of the 2010 MSA Yearbook. Competitors will only be allowed to make one approach to the start line. If the engine stalls the car will be pushed away, restarted and then pushed up to the line. NO additional tyre warm-ups will be allowed. Any competitor who does not comply with this regulation will be excluded. The Chief Start Marshal will be Judge of Fact to adjudicate on this regulation. Start Line Marshals will not be available for push starts. Artificial tyre warming devices are not permitted in M.S.A. Speed classes but will be permitted for all historic vehicles entered in Classes 6 and 7 running racing tyres designed for circuit use, for reasons of safety. ALL DRIVER CHANGEOVERS AND REFUELLING MUST TAKE PLACE IN THE HOLDING PADDOCK. DRIVERS AWARDED A RE-RUN MUST RETURN TO THE HOLDING PADDOCK AND JOIN THE REAR OF THE WAITING CARS. All drivers must be wearing approved flame retardant overalls, seat belts, fire resistant gloves and helmets/goggles before leaving the holding paddock to the start area. 16 Competitors will have the opportunity of two practice runs, having walked the course under official supervision. 17 Competitors will be identified by competition numbers as laid down by the MSA Technical Regulations J4 and S 9.2.5, these numbers WILL NOT be supplied by the organisers. 18 All other general Regulations of the MSA apply as written. 19 Overnight camping will be available for motor caravans and towing caravans only. Any competitor wishing to take advantage of this facility must advice the Secretary of the Meeting at the latest by the Wednesday before the event. Clarifications for Road going Series Production Cars Classes SA, SB and SC These classes are intended for near-standard cars with very few modifications (as listed), to encourage low-cost entry into the sport. All cars running in the above classes must remain in totally road legal form at all times. All cars must have current VED and insurance in the name of the main driver, with a current MOT if age requires it. Note. Trade plates and traders or company group insurance policies will not be accepted. NO modifications (optional or otherwise) are permitted which are likely to improve the performance and handling of the car with the following exceptions: Wheels and Tyres; The standard wheel rim width may be increased by a maximum of one inch and fitted with tyres to suit. Tyres must be from MSA list 1A and be Road Legal. Engine and Exhaust; The air cleaner and exhaust system must remain as production or pattern replacement including catalyst if fitted. Electronic ignition may be fitted. Suspension and Steering: The steering wheel may be replaced by a non-standard item. Uprated dampers may be fitted. Body; In the interests of safety the front seats may be replaced by a competition version which must be fully trimmed, not a bare shell. Pyrotechnic safety devices such as airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may be disconnected or removed. General; No other modifications, except the fitting of a roll cage, are allowed in classes SA, SB and SC. Kit cars, limited production cars, space framed or non-ferrous chassis construction road cars and one-off road-going cars are not permitted in Classes SA, SB and SC. In the event of an unresolved eligibility issue, the driver of the car concerned may be required to produce within four weeks of the event in question, a manufacturer s catalogue to substantiate any queried modifications / specifications and allow championship points to stand. Any modifications not specifically permitted are, by definition, not allowed. Classes 1A to 1E Tyres must be from MSA list 1A and be Road Legal Exhaust systems must include a working catalytic converter on all cars manufactured after 31st December1999 Engine and Gearbox; The engine block and/or cylinder head must remain as original type and material. Internal modifications are allowed but the cubic capacity must remain within the same capacity class as the original car. Gearbox and differential casing must be of the original type and material and remain in the original position. Internal modifications are allowed Brakes; Brake calipers, discs, master cylinder and pads can be modified. Carbon discs are not permitted. Modification of the brake pedal is permitted. Brake bias adjustment is allowed. The fitting of pedal assemblies is not permitted Anti-Lock braking systems can be removed but cannot be added to a vehicle that does not have one as a manufacturer specified option. Suspension; The suspension type and mountings must remain the same as that fitted by the vehicle manufacturer. The shock absorbers may be of any make and may be up rated from standard. Adjustable spring platform struts are permitted. The mounting method and position must remain as specified by the vehicle manufacturer. Springs are free but must retain their original location. Bushes may be changed for similar polymer materials, but rose-joints or similar metal joints are prohibited unless fitted as the vehicle manufacturer s specified option. The fitting of spherical type joints is not permitted, except as the top mounting of a suspension strut. Pyrotechnic safety devices such as airbags and seatbelt pre-tensioners may be disconnected or removed. Otherwise as specified in Section S11. The requirements of the current MSA regulations with regards to safety provisions for Sprint and Hillclimb cars and requirements of Classes 1 A-E must be adhered to. AINTREE 55/55 G.P.
