OUR game plan STARTS WITH you 2015 16 NCC Membership Guide

IT ALL STARTS WITH YOU! The National Commodore Club (NCC) provides an opportunity for all Vanderbilt alumni, parents and fans to directly impact Vanderbilt Athletics and, most importantly, our 350 student-athletes. Through gifts to the NCC annual fund, you can support our student-athlete scholarships and lead the way to success. Room $10,000 *Food (meal plans, refueling snacks, road per diems) $9,000 Books $1,000 Before a student-athlete enters a classroom and learns, our game plan starts with you. Before a student-athlete enters a stadium and competes, our game plan starts with you. Before a coach enters a locker room and teaches, our game plan starts with you. You can provide the resources needed to offer competitive scholarships, recruit talented student-athletes, and equip them with the education and environment to win. With your generosity, we can build a game plan for continued success in the classroom and in competition. A single scholarship costs approximately $69,000, but the investment made possible through gifts of all sizes is worth so much more. It prepares our student-athletes to be leaders and champions for a lifetime. Become a part of the plan, and celebrate the successes. Become an NCC member today, and support our 350 student-athletes. Whether you are a longtime National Commodore Club member or you are considering becoming a new member, your support plays an important role in our winning game plan. Your annual gift helps cover scholarship expenses. You help us attract the best and brightest student-athletes and train them for academic and athletic victories. With scholarship costs rising each year, annual gifts are critical to achieving success. *New NCAA legislation impacts this area. In January 2015, the NCAA expanded what Division I universities can provide to student-athletes under an athletic scholarship. Please note all listed costs are projections and based on averages. Total student-athlete scholarship cost $69,000

2015 16 NCC Membership Levels and Benefits The greatest benefit of being a National Commodore Club member is knowing you help provide tuition, tutoring, books, and room and board for our 350 student-athletes. Annual gifts of all sizes impact the lives of all Commodore student-athletes. Your membership level is determined by your total giving to the NCC annual fund in one fiscal year (July 1 June 30). This total may include philanthropic gifts, priority football gifts and priority men s basketball gifts. In addition to the satisfaction of knowing you help provide scholarship support and opportunities, NCC members are eligible to receive annual benefits including the best seating and parking on game days. 2015 16 NCC Priority System The National Commodore Club utilizes a priority system to provide a fair process to allocate ing and parking requests from more than 6,000 NCC members. This system rewards active NCC members for their gifts as well as consecutive years of membership. Grouping Criteria Group 1 Group 2 Group 3 Group 4 Group 5 Group 6 NCC priority ranking 1 100 101 250 251 350 351 1,000 1,001 2,000 2,001+ NCC gift* $10,000+ PRIORITY GROUPING NCC members are placed in groups to help efficiently and transparently allocate s and parking permits. Your NCC group placement is determined by meeting at least one of the criteria listed below a specific group in the chart above. NCC priority ranking Your priority ranking is based on your priority point total. Please see how points are awarded below. PRIORITY POINTS NCC members will earn priority points in 2015 16 based on the following criteria: 1 point awarded $100 donated to the NCC each year (to any area of athletics) 1 point awarded year of consecutive NCC membership since 2008 1 point awarded (16 points maximum each year) 25 points awarded for Vanderbilt alumnus/alumna (one-time award per account) 50 points awarded for former Vanderbilt student-athlete (one-time award per account) Priority Calculation Dates NCC priority rankings will be calculated on the following dates to ensure your priority ranking is up-to-date for priority seating, priority parking and post s. March 1: Football priority seating, NCAA men s and women s basketball tournaments May 1: NCAA baseball regionals June 1: Men s basketball priority seating and parking, football priority parking October 1: SEC men s and women s basketball tournaments December 1: Football bowl game $6,000 $9,999 $4,000 $5,999 $1,500 $3,999 $500 $1,499 *Your NCC gift is calculated by combining all gifts to Vanderbilt Athletics each year. The yearly total includes your annual, restricted, capital and endowment gifts. $100 $499 Why are these dates important? When priority was calculated for the 2014 NCAA Baseball Regionals at Hawkins Field, NCC members in groups 1 5 were able to score s in the infield based on our demand. When priority was calculated for the 2015 SEC Men s Basketball Tournament in Nashville, NCC members in groups 1 3 were able to secure s at Bridgestone Arena based on our demand. GAME PLAN FOR SUCCESS By making an annual gift, you can help us prepare our 350 student-athletes to become leaders and champions in life and value integrity, character, sportsmanship and victory. The National Commodore Club encourages all members to give first to the NCC annual fund. Including your annual gift, here are the six steps in our game plan for success. 1Make a gift to the National Commodore Club annual fund. 2 Make a restricted gift to a specific team or special initiative. 3 4 5 6Cheer on the Commodores at games and events. Include Vanderbilt Athletics in your estate plan. Make a capital or endowment gift. Encourage your family and friends to join the National Commodore Club. For more information about capital, endowment or planned gifts, please call the NCC office at (615) 322-4114. Vanderbilt has been a truly special place for me. I am grateful to be a Commodore and wear black and gold on game days. My experiences at Vanderbilt are made possible through the generosity of others. I want to thank you for being a part of our game plan for success. Your support gives me and my teammates the opportunity to develop into the total Vanderbilt Man, and those lessons will last a lifetime. Ralph Webb Football Gainesville, Fla. Sociology

Become an NCC Member today Show your support, and become an NCC member today! ONE-TIME PAYMENT Make your NCC gift in person, by mail or online at vu.edu/supportncc. You may pay with cash, check (payable to Vanderbilt University) or credit card (American Express, Discover, MasterCard or Visa). Gifts may be mailed to Vanderbilt University Gift and Donor Services at PMB 407727, 2301 Vanderbilt Place, Nashville, TN 37240-7727. Membership Questions How is my annual gift to the National Commodore Club used? A gift to the NCC annual fund helps provide scholarship support for our 350 studentathletes. This includes covering tuition, tutoring, books, room and board, and much more. With scholarship costs rising each year, annual gifts play an important part in helping recruit the best and brightest student-athletes to perform on the most competitive academic and athletic stages. How is my annual gift different from a restricted gift? MONTHLY PAYMENTS Draft your checking or credit card account monthly. You may authorize a credit card draft on your NCC membership form. MATCHING GIFTS Increase your NCC membership level by combining your gift with matching funds from your employer. Please contact your employer s human resources department for information regarding a matching gift program, or visit matchinggifts.com/vanderbilt. Your gift to the NCC annual fund directly benefits our student-athletes through scholarship support. A single scholarship including tuition, books and more costs approximately $69,000, so we encourage all Commodore fans to give first to the NCC annual fund. An annual gift is necessary to receive priority seating and parking. Through a restricted gift, fans may directly support an individual sport. Restricted gifts help our programs fund projects outside of their operating budgets. They do not apply toward priority seating and parking. DONATED STOCK GIFTS Transfer a gift of stock, and enjoy several tax benefits. Please contact Vanderbilt Stock Transfers at stockgifts@vanderbilt.edu or (615) 875-1155 for more information. Your NCC membership entitles you to benefits, including priority seating and parking and Commodore Nation magazine. The value of these benefits will reduce the tax credit of your NCC gift, in accordance with federal tax regulations. In order for your gift to be 100 percent tax-deductible, you must decline your right to receive any tangible benefits on your NCC membership form at the time you make your gift. I m proud to be a part of Commodore Nation. We all come from different places and backgrounds to be a part of a top-notch environment for academics and athletics. It s an honor to know we are supported by National Commodore Club members across the country. It all starts with them. They help make this experience great. They are a part of our successes. Thank you! Luke Kornet Men s basketball Lantana, Texas Engineering SEC First-Year Academic Honor Roll (2014) I am so thrilled I chose to come to Vanderbilt because I have grown as a person, student and player and I have learned so much about myself during the past two years. The support of National Commodore Club members provides me the opportunity to receive the education of a lifetime and compete in the sport I have always loved. Thanks for all you do. Your impact is more than you know! Rebekah Dahlman Women s basketball Braham, Minn. Sociology When is the deadline to make an annual gift to be active for 2015 16? To be active throughout 2015 16, please make your annual gift to the NCC by May 31. Our game plan starts with you, and we want to make your NCC membership as rewarding as possible. If you have additional questions, please contact the NCC office at (615) 322-4114 or ncc@vanderbilt.edu. You may also visit us in McGugin Center (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.).
