President s Message A new year is upon us and I hope everyone is warm and cozy by staying inside as much as possible. The holidays are gone and it is back to work preparing for the busy indoor season. Please keep in mind that the indoor ranges are very busy at times due to matches and practices this time of the year. I would strongly suggest that you look at our Google calendars on our Website before you venture to the club to shoot. You can also look at the calendar on the wall at the entrance or give me a call and I will be glad to give you the information to date. Please note that we now have a special soap (D-Lead) in the restrooms that is specially formulated to remove lead and other metals from your hands. It is recommended by the manufacturer that you wash your hands in cold water after shooting pistol or rifle, whether you are shooting on the indoor or outdoor ranges. Watch your step on any of the outdoor ranges this time of the year as the ice tends to be tricky. Also please do not venture over the top road unless you have a 4-wheel drive vehicle, as that road and the parking area become extremely slick. Use some common sense because if we cannot get you out, you are going to have to call a tow truck! And that costs money! In closing, I want to remind everyone that we appreciate every member we have and I will do everything I can to make your experience a good one. Please bring your friends and relatives to share our wonderful facility and hopefully they will join also! I am looking forward to warmer weather and the greening of the landscape around us. Think 75 degrees. Skip Land Fund Pledge By Skip Klinger We would like to thank all the members who participated in donations to the Land Fund. Due to your generosity and focus on making PSA a better facility we now have the first bonds paid and we are working on getting the other $120,000 paid off in the next two years. Please consider continuing your tax deductible donation this year or contributing for the first time. As always, we appreciate everyone s participation! Yes Skip, you can count on me. Land Fund Pledge Card Name Address Phone Number Check one: $20.00 $50.00 $100.00 Other Amount Please return your pledge and check to PSA at PO Box 142, Palmyra, PA 17078 as soon as possible or drop it off at the club house. If you have questions, I will be glad to answer them. Please call me at the club at 717-832-0488. Thank you in advance to your prompt attention to this very important matter. Club Policies No exploding targets No self-sealing cube or square targets No bump firing or slide fire/ bump fire stocks These policies were passed by the membership at a club meeting due to safety concerns. The most important factor is to keep ALL shots on the back stop. No rounds can leave the range; keep this in mind when you are using any of the ranges. Please remember that gun safety and range safety is your responsibility. Target Ranges Do NOT move or readjust targets or frames that are on the shooting ranges. Please leave them where they are set. We have recently experienced considerable damage to targets, frames and stands that were not PSA's property and they will have to be replaced at the clubs expense. Use only targets and backers that are provided by Palmyra Sportsmen's Association on any range. 2

Action Handgun The Pit Steel Plate Range Absolutely NO gun handling when anyone is down range. Eye and ear protection are mandatory for all shooters and spectators on the Action Handgun Range/Pit. Stand back 10 yards minimum when shooting steel plates to avoid the possibility of being hit by lead and bullet jacket fragments. Do not use magnum calibers or their equivalent when shooting steel plates. They damage the mechanisms and plate surfaces. Use paper targets when shooting magnum calibers. Do not use centerfire rifles, carbines or shotguns. They damage the mechanisms and plate surfaces. Do not use handguns that fire centerfire rifle cartridges. They damage the mechanisms and plate surfaces. Do not use shotguns on the Action Handgun Range. They damage the mechanisms and plate surfaces. Help keep your Action Handgun Range clean. Police your brass and deposit it in the receptacle at the rear of the range marked BRASS. Do not move targets from their current positions. If you move tables, please return them to where you found them. Trash barrels are provided at the rear of the range. Please make sure all your trash is placed in these barrels when you leave the range. Do not move steel targets or backer frames from pit to pit, they are placed in these pits for a specific reason and are not meant to be moved. Please note: Targets and wood pieces or any other items that are stored at the rear of the range are not meant to be put on the range and used as targets. The shooting tables are not meant to be used as a place to set cans or any other targets. Remember as a club member you are part owner of the PSA club and any damage you may cause is like taking money out of your own pocket. ************************************************************************************************************************************************** ATTENTION WOMEN AND YOUTH The Palmyra Sportsmen s Club is proud to be offering a learning experience for all youth up to the age of 18, and women of all ages. Outdoor Archery League By Wendy Garrison On April 25 and 26 Palmyra will be hosting the Outdoor Penn Dutch Archery League Shoot. Contact Wendy Garrison for registration at 717-838-1055 or butterflywings123@verizon.net. 3-D Archery By Dick Wallace Wednesday Night 3-D Shoots will be starting on Wednesday, April 15 and every Wednesday night through September 16. 15 targets Shooting times: 4pm to Dusk We need volunteers to sign up on the board in the clubhouse to set up courses so we have different courses every Wednesday night. Please help out. I B O - 3-D Qualifier Will be held at the club on May 2 and 3 30 Targets Registration: 7am to 1pm Junior Rifle Team-Scrip Fundraising By Erin Gestl You can help the Junior Rifle Team raise money without buying unwanted items and with no extra cost to you. Supporting our organization has never been easier! How It Works: Scrip refers to gift certificates / gift cards. Our program is able to purchase the same gift cards that you would purchase from merchants nationwide but at a discount. Discounts range from 1-17%. The difference is profit for us. By purchasing these gift cards before you shop for your everyday items - like groceries, gas, clothes, restaurants - we raise money, without you having to spend a penny extra. It s just that simple. Example: You buy a Giant $100 gift card from us; we purchase it at $96 (a 4% discount). The Jr. team earns $4. How to Participate: We encourage you to take advantage of the wonderful benefits offered by this ongoing fundraiser. To order contact any junior rifle team member or coach. If you have questions, please contact Shelley Gestl at 717-832-3385 or sgestl@comcast.net. Thank you in advance for your support! Orders placed by the 5th of each month will be available at that month s club meeting. Youth Trap Youth trap will start in April and will be on Monday evenings. If you are interested, please contact Doris Shyda at 717-507-0609 to sign up and for details. Friends of NRA (FNRA) Banquet Want to get involved but don t know how to help??? The Friends of NRA is the perfect solution! This group is the non-political arm of the NRA raising money for the youth shooting sports. Spreading the love of shooting on to our children is the only way to ensure these sports are passed down to the younger generations. The Friends of NRA grants benefit programs such as youth education, hunter education, conservation, firearms and marksmanship training and safety, and much more. Our big fundraiser is a banquet on Sunday, May 3, 2015. It is an evening of games, raffles, silent and live auctions, food and fellowship! We are looking for volunteers for our committee to assist with planning, fliers/mailings and donations. We are looking for donations for our Ladies Table. If anyone is interested in donating a basket, i.e. Tastefully Simply, Pampered Chef, Bath and Body Works, etc. or any other items, please contact Valerie Angeli at 717-534-2287. If you have any questions, would like to volunteer, or attend our banquet, please call Valerie Angeli at 717-534-2287. Please watch our Website for information on the FNRA Banquet. Sporting Clays The Annual Easter Weekend Bunny Blast will be held April 3 and 4 from 8am to 2pm both days. There will be two 50-target fields each day. Trap (Clay Bird) Shooting By Bruce Meyerhoffer Tuesday evening continues from 4pm to about 7:30pm. All are welcome to shoot practice at clay birds. No league or competition on Tuesdays. Stop out early on Tuesday and get some additional instructions on shooting. PSA Shootout Help Needed Want to help with the upcoming PSA Shootout being held on April 23 through April 26? Setup will start on Monday, April 20. All help is welcome. There are several things that need done to setup for this event. If you are interested, please call Rod at 717-273-7554 for more information. 4
