REPORT FOR THURSDAY 21ST JUNE Just over 1250 sheep today with trade across all sections back on last week, which has been the case nationally. Lambs still a fantastic trade for the time of year, with returns still very pleasing for all vendors. Prime Lambs - 1122 Sold to 119 or 256p/kg Lamb trade today back on last week with an SQQ of 225.92p/kg and all in 225.85p/kg. A clear two tier trade is emerging for the lambs, with heavy, well fleshed sorts selling to a premium at anything from 235p/kg - 256p/kg. There is less demand for lambs weighing under 40kg unless they are very well fleshed and well bred. Lean lambs at any weight penalised and trading at around 200p/kg-210p/kg. Please take care when selecting lambs for market and try to ensure anyone handling the sheep do not pull wool, especially on the back. We have received a number of comments from buyers regarding bruising on lambs from this. Please ensure all staff working with stock are aware of this in order to reduce the issue.
