We will discuss fundraisers, senior prom, senior dinner cruise, graduation and the associated rehearsal expectations, and much much more! You do not want to miss this essential information! Fellowship of Christian Athletes will have its weekly huddle this Thursday morning at 6:45 in A127. Come through the a-wing doors! Attention Students interested in a career in veterinary medicine and animal health: The Westminster High FFA Chapter will host an after-school program entitled Visit with a Vet. The program will feature veterinarians, animal healthcare providers, and professionals in the animal health industry sharing their profession in a small group setting. There will be an informational meeting on Thursday, October 4, during FLEX, in Mr. Geiman s room (AG02). If you are interested, please sign-up by emailing Mr. Geiman at adgeima@carrollk12.org Attention all STEM club members This Thursday the 27th will meet from 2:30-3:45 in Mr. Jamison s room. New members are always welcome! Attention juniors: the list of football players and coaches for powderpuff is posted on the junior class bulletin board outside the nurse s office. There will be a mandatory meeting after school on Thursday at 2:30 in Mrs. Jones room (A227). We still need cheerleaders and cheerleading coaches for the powderpuff game on October 10. If you participate this year, you can still be eligible for next year. See Mrs. Jones by the end of the day if you are interested. Classic Movie Club will have its first gathering today in Mr. Bowersox room, A201. We will meet at 2:50 and will be finished by 4:00. As previously advertised we will watch a couple of Three Stooges shorts. There will be a Key Club meeting after school tomorrow, Wednesday, from 2:20 3:20 in room 240A. All students are welcome to attend.

The new UNICEF club will hold its first meeting of the year on Thursday, September 27, in Ms. Rambo s room during flex. If you signed up for this club during the first week of school, you should receive an invitation to the meeting, placed in your advisor s mailbox. If you are interested in coming but did not receive an invitation, email Ms. Rambo to be put on the flex list. Service Opportunity: Together We Own It, a local nonprofit, is looking for volunteers to assist at the Westminster Fall Festival September 27th through the 30th. There are many shifts available beginning as early as 6am and going as late as 11pm over the course of the event! Volunteers will be assisting with the corn maze and mini golf course, as well as helping participants with carnival style games in the Kids Zone. This is a great opportunity to earn community service hours! Please contact Katie Kirby at katiekirby@togetherweownit.org or call 410.878.3104 to sign up. Have you been involved in a service project or participated in a volunteer activity within the last year? If so, apply for the 2019 Prudential Spirit of the Community Award. Applicants are honored at the local, state, and national levels and could be eligible for up to a $5000 grant. Interested students should sign up in the Counseling Office by Tuesday, September 25th @ 2:30 PM Hugh O Brian Youth Leadership Conference Sophomores Only Place: Mt. St. Mary s University in Emmitsburg Date: May 23-26, 2019 Additional fees may apply To be considered as a candidate for this conference, you will need to submit an essay of 100 words or less on the most rewarding and challenging aspect of being a leader in your school and community. This essay will be reviewed by a committee of teachers who will select one student and one alternate to represent Westminster High School. Please return your essay to the Counseling office by November 9, 2018 Attention students interested in taking the PSAT s on Wed. Oct. 10th.Tickets are on sale now thru Wed, Oct 3rd. The cost of the PSAT ticket is $18.00. You may pay with check made out to WHS or cash. AES Scholarship Deadline Is Approaching: The deadline for the 13th annual AES Scholarship is October 6, 2018. please encourage your students to apply. We wish them all good luck! Athletic Information Aaron Sorkin led the Owls golf team to another victory yesterday over Hereford 156-174. Aaron finished with a one under par 35, Jennifer Sorkin shot 39. Will Budzynski and Cory Campbell each finished with a 41.
