Slane webmaster@tulsafsc.com Inside Edge Editor Wendy Lissau Wendy@tulsafsc.com THE INSIDE EDGE It is with deep sadness that we say goodbye to a beloved member of our family Stephanie Anne Sam McKay. To the many that knew her, the loss is nothing short of devastating. To those who may have only had the privilege of seeing her grace the ice, it s the loss of an inspiring young woman, whose ability was breathtaking in beautiful presence and a maturity well beyond her years. Stephanie was a special young lady. Her talent, elegance and artistry on the ice was only superseded by her beauty, heart and kindness off the ice. The shocking loss of such a force of life has shaken us all to the core - and brought us all together by a collective heartbreak for a young woman whose life ended too soon, and for her parents who are enduring unimaginable pain. A Fond Farewell Stephanie Anne McKay 2/24/94-10/9/08 It s difficult for those of us left behind. To understand how a life so young could escape us. But in our profound sadness, Stephanie s tremendous life is to be celebrated, for in her 14 years, she brought great joy, humor and kindness to all those around her. She excelled in figure skating and for those who knew her great talent for art she consistently found a way to intertwine the two. She was intensely spiritual and loving, with a strong sense of September/ October 2008 self and an unwavering commitment to be the best she could be in all aspects of life. As we all struggle to grasp the reality in our own way, it is a time like this when we realize that though we may compete against one another, and at times get lost in the moment, the Tulsa Figure Skating Club is a family. And in this difficult time, we remember that we are bonded together by the love of a sport and by a love for all those in it. We embrace Jan and Mike McKay in this incredibly difficult time, and offer them our deepest sympathy and loving support. Though it is difficult to say goodbye, take comfort in knowing that Stephanie s spirit lives on in each of us. And take peace in knowing that she now stands atop the greatest podium of them all, a gold medal shining eternally around her neck. Stephanie, you will be dearly missed. ~ In fond memory, The Tulsa Figure Skating Club Board of Directors Note: A memorial fund has been set up in Stephanie s name through Bank of Oklahoma. Simply walk into any branch and donate in her name. To view a photo gallery of Stephanie and her artwork, visit www.tulsafsc.com.

The Inside Edge Page 3 September/October 2008 2008 National Showcase Championship Rochester, MN, ~ August 7-9, 2008 Tulsa Figure Skating Club Congratulates Paige Westmoreland, 2008 U.S. Figure Skating National Showcase Champion Paige Westmoreland came in first place in the Parade of Champions Final at the 2008 National Showcase Championship, August 7-9 in Rochester, MN. This event brings together each competitor who placed first in their initial event for an event final. Paige skated against all the other first place finishers and was awarded the national title. This is a huge accomplishment for Paige, and for all of us in the Tulsa Figure Skating Club. We are so proud of her and commend her for her tremendous accomplishment. Three other Tulsa Figure Skating Club members competed in National Showcase this year. Abby Fain, Brooke Rogers, and Stephanie McKay, who was a past National Showcase Champion. We are proud of all of these competitors and are honored to have had them represent the Tulsa Figure Skating Club. CONGRATULATIONS TO ALL OF OUR SKATERS!
