The Three Festivals Tall Ships Races 2018 In 2012 the Challenge Wales charity took Challenge Wales Wales Tall Ship to her first ever Tall Ships event (this was a race from Dublin to Liverpool) and it was estimated that 1.15 million people descended on Dublin alone for the event. It is fantastic that the first young persons voyage and Tall Ships event that Adventure Wales is taking part in is the Three Festivals Tall Ships Regatta from Liverpool to Dublin. A Tall Ships event is perfect for those who haven t sailed before or those who are looking for a longer, and sometimes challenging, adventure. What people have said about a Tall Ships Race voyage: The crew aboard challenge were amazing, extremely friendly and patient while teaching us new skills such as knot tying and manning the helm. Sophie (age 18) I made new friends and saw new places, I learned so much, both about sailing and about life. Ronan (age 20) I will forever cherish the memories, lessons and friends that I was lucky enough to have during my time on board. Jessie-May (age 18) Being surrounded by all of the Tall Ships was incredible, the sight was unbelievable and the atmosphere was completely different from what I had experienced on different trips. Rhiannon (age 19)
The Three Festivals Tall Ships Races 2018 The 60ft two-masted shooner, Adventure Wales, was built for adventure and over the years she has circumnavigated the world, won First in Class in the famous Round the Island Race, raced in numerous transatlantic activities and taken part in the international Tall Ship Races. More recently she has been used in outreach work provinding teamwork and leadership opportunities with disadvantaged people. You will be joining up to 9 other trainees and guided by the Adventure Wales crew you will be getting involved in all aspects of sailing; hoisting the sails, changing the sails, preparing dinner and cooking, cleaning, helming the boat and racing the boat competitively. Whatever you are doing, you will be part of the crew and will be working as a close-knit team. Whether this is the first time you have sailed or are experienced, this is the perfect opportunity to learn new skills and have an experience that you will never forget. Remember, the prices overleaf are the full price before any bursary funding is applied! Additional bursary funding can reduce the voyage cost between 10-100%. Our funding pages in this document will help show you how.

Adventure Wales What is Adventure Wales? The yacht Adventure Wales (pictured above) is a sail training vessel based in Cardiff, South Wales and operated by the Challenge Wales charity. She is 60 foot ocean-going sailing boat in Wales. She has sailed around the world and is now used to help young people (aged 12 25 years) from the UK develop social and personal skills through sail training. We put them in a challenging, and often alien environment, where they learn about teamwork, leadership, discipline, respect for others and help develop their literacy and numeracy skills.
