FROM THE HEAD OF SPORT Congratulations to all coaches and students for their efforts so far this season. There are only four rounds and three weeks left this year in our Term 2 competition and with little time remaining, it is important all students are giving their best at training and in the AIC competition. All of our teams can make a big impact on their competition this weekend against Iona with strong performances and I wish everyone the best of luck. UNIFORM It is very disappointing to hear from some of our parents and Old Boys of the school that they are occasionally embarrassed by the current state of our playing uniform. It is a privilege to represent Marist College Ashgrove in sport and as a representative of the College it is important that you maintain a very high standard with your presentation. The way we present ourselves can often be as important as our performance. When you are playing sport for Marist College Ashgrove in any sporting competition it is essential that you are wearing the correct uniform to and from the playing venue as outlined below. All coaches have been asked to stress the importance of our presentations on and off the field this weekend. TERM 3 SPORTS Starting today you can sign up for basketball, tennis and track & field. This will be an online process similar to our rugby & football sign ons where you can find the links on the Sport section of the school website. Sign ons for basketball and tennis will close next Friday on May 29. After that we will finalise our team numbers for the season so if your name is not signed up by then you will not play that sport. TRACK & FIELD GYM There are designated weights session that have begun for track & field. These sessions are Monday & Thursday afternoons from 3.30 4.30pm. All boys interested in representing Ashgrove in track & field for the 2015 season should be attending these sessions.

FIRST HOME GAME OF THE SEASON FOR OUR OPEN TEAMS We only have two major games where our 1 st teams will play at home with Iona this weekend and St Pats in two weeks which will also double as our old boys day. For the boys involved in the younger teams travelling to Iona you have plenty of time to return to home or school and change into your school uniform so that you can come and support your 1 st teams on Hayden Oval and McMahon Oval. Home support is crucial and there is no better place to support than here at our school. HALF TIME COMPETITIONS will be run by various students who will be looking to do some fund raising and these boys will speak in greater detail about this on Friday morning. Some of your 1 st XI players have put together a little video of what will be run at half time on Hayden Oval. 1 ST XV RUGBY ASH 1 st XV vs. IONA 1 st XV 2.15pm, Field McMahon Oval Marist College Ashgrove 1 ST XI FOOTBALL ASH 1 st XI vs. IONA 1 st XI 12.15pm, Field Hayden Oval Marist College Ashgrove **ALL SUPPORTERS ARE ENCOURAGED TO TURN OUT IN GREAT NUMBERS TO SUPPPORT OUR TEAMS!! WET WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENTS Despite the best efforts of the sports department to push for games to be played where possible, it is inevitable that the weather will cause some games and training to be cancelled. Parents and students are encouraged to follow MCA Secondary Sports on twitter for the most up to date announcements regarding training and games. This can be accessed by both the internet and via most telephones and I encourage all parents and students to sign up and follow MCA Secondary Sport as this will be the first place that any announcements will be made regarding wet weather notices. Those with an iphone or similar can download the twitter app and receive instant updates directly to their phones free of charge. I encourage all parents and boys to visit the College web site and follow the links which explain how to create your own twitter account and follow us. http://twitter.com/mcaseniorsport PLEASE NOTE: boys/families should not assume that games are cancelled. If no notification has been given, players should attend their scheduled matches as usual.

Families are also warmly encouraged to come along and participate also. To participate in Parkruns, you need to register your details through the website the steps are as follows: 1. Visit website: http://www.parkrun.com.au/register/ 2. Fill our rego form: Follow the prompts and fill out the form with your details where it asks you to select your Running Club, please choose Marist College Ashgrove. 3.
