Senior Men s News Saturday a small group of senior men travelled to Wallaroo for our first trial match. To be honest I did not know what to expect as Wallaroo have a good reputation in a strong league and it was the first hit out for our lads as a team. What happened next completely took me by surprise. Our lads started very strong, we were ruthless, our presence around the ground, our ability to run, the simple 1% plays and our ability to deliver a football in a more professional matter showed Wallaroo that we meant business. It was a long 6 quarter game with our lads dying off in the final 2 quarters, but the first 4 were excellent. There were some stand out plays and individual efforts from each member which were exceptional. However it was just a trial, we will not get ahead of ourselves as we all know there is still a fair bit of work to be done across the ground. This Saturday we once again travel, we take on Ramco in a 1 game 4 quarter trial match we are expecting to take up a strong 25-30 man team. Again we will rotate players around the ground looking for that right position and will be concentrating on the importance of 100% effort over 4 quarters to bring the lads up to game tempo. There are some great signs, but it s too early to be counting all the Owl s lads. See you on the field. Train hard! Rob Warren Senior Coach SENIOR MENS REMINDERS Subs and memberships are due! Make sure all players have arranged Registration payment before Round 1 see either Rob or Kristy ASAP. Player Sponsors - We know subs can be expensive! Why not get somebody else to pay them? Get a player sponsor form off Rob, hit up you boss, parents, in-laws, friends or that takeaway place you see each night and get them involved. They don't need to pay all the Subs, but their generosity will get me off your back :) Circulating is our Long Shot Footy Tipping Competition. $20 to enter, only a couple weeks left to get them in. ARE YOU OVER 15?? WANT TO EARN SOME OWL MONEY/CASH PAYMENT?? The Men s Senior sides are chasing dedicated individuals for the following positions: Water boys Boundary umpires Goal umpires These are paid positions, possibly Owl Money and/or Cash payment provided! Please contact Rob Warren if your interested, we are looking for committed individuals for each game of our home and away season. Page 3
