1 Adelaide Hockey Club - Season 2016 Welcome to the 2016 Season at Adelaide Hockey Club! February 2016 Newsletter (updated for change in U14/U18 Women s training times) From our President Anne Collins I know a number of members have played indoor and summer hockey throughout the season, and for everyone else I hope you have had a good break. I would like to thank everyone who participated in the survey at the end of the season, your feedback has been valuable to the Committee during the off-season in preparing for another fun season with the mighty Adelaide Peas. Coaches At Adelaide Hockey Club, we are fortunate to have a number of dedicated and experienced coaches, and I would like to extend a huge thank you to those that have again taken on these roles (which will be posted on the website shortly!). I am pleased to announce however, that Ian Jennings and Mike Angley have signed on again as Senior Coaches for our Premier League teams, ready to build on the successful 2015 season. This year I am also pleased to announce that Melody Kiwi Cooper, past New Zealand international player and current coach of the SA Hotshots, will take on the role of Coaching Director. In this capacity Kiwi will be working to mentor and develop our club coaches a huge opportunity for anyone looking to develop their coaching skills. We are still looking to fill some of our coaching spots, so whether you are new to coaching and would like to give it a try, or maybe a past coach or player looking to return, please let us know (hockeyoperations@adelaidehockeyclub.com.au). In recognition of the importance of our coaches to the success of the Club, and enjoyment of our members, coaching roles do attract reward* and the opportunity to develop your coaching skills. [* The Club offers a fee-for-service to coaches of Senior teams, and coaches of Junior teams receive membership fee off-set. All coaches have the opportunity to participate in club run professional development activities, leading to nationally recognised accreditation] Below is a quick update on planning for the 2016 season. 5 Volunteering Ours is a Club that is operated by volunteers. This culture of contributing is one of our most valuable attributes. Volunteering around the Club is a great way to get to know other members and to support the club that we love to be a part of. We would like to say a huge THANK YOU to our members who volunteered to help out at the Mitre10 BBQ on Saturday, 23 January. The day was a great success and much fun was had by those who were there. There are many ways to get involved and all members are encouraged to do so. Please our volunteer co-ordinator at volunteers@adelaidehockeyclub.com.au to find out more. Positions Vacant The Club is seeking expressions of interest, from suitable candidates to operate the Club bar, Minkey Competition and to provide catering in the club rooms. These are key roles for the Club and are remunerated, with incentives provided for growing the business. If you are interested in any of these positions or have an entrepreneurial flair, please have a look at the expressions of interest: Bar Manager: gement_eoiv1.pdf Minkey Coordinator: ordinator_eoiv1.pdf Caterer: OIv1.pdf Any questions about these roles please contact: play@adelaidehockeyclub.com.au Merchandise Get ready for the season in red, white and blue! Club merchandise hoodies, vests and training tops will be available for sale shortly. Watch the Club s website and Facebook page for further details on how to pre-order. Club 2016 Kick Off Day This is an event for all members, offering an opportunity for new members to see our facilities at Pea Park, for all players to meet our valuable sponsors, perhaps get measured up for a new mouth guard and just generally celebrate the start of 2016! We hope to see you there!
