TEMUNIN S QUEEN Raced wide without cover. Race 6: Bampak Building Class 1 H cap 1200m HE S A NATURAL Change of tactics. From the wide barrier to be ridden further back in the field. On return to scale a protest was lodged by jockey P. Hammersley, rider of the 2nd placegetter, THE LAST KISS, against HE S A NATURAL being declared the winner, alleging interference over the concluding stages. A protest was also lodge by jockey M. Hellyer, rider of the 5th placegetter, CONGELATOR, against THE LAST KISS being declared 2nd, alleging interference over the concluding stages. After considering both objections, stewards were satisfied that the interference suffered by both THE LAST KISS and CONGELATOR was as a result of a shift from HE S A NATURAL. Stewards could not be satisfied that had the interference suffered by CONGELATOR not occurred that that horse would have beaten THE LAST KISS or HE S A NATURAL and therefore dismissed the objection lodged by M. Hellyer. However stewards were satisfied that THE LAST KISS after passing the 200m was inconvenienced and shifted inwards and were also satisfied that this interference was sufficient to alter the short half-head margin and upheld the protest lodged by M. Hellyer, altering the numbers to read: NO. 5 THE LAST KISS 1st HE S A NATURAL 2nd SNITZELS JOY 3rd and GAMBIT 4th. At a subsequent inquiry, Jockey G. Colless, rider of He s A Natural, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding, in that after passing the 200m he allowed his mount to shift in
under pressure on to THE LAST KISS, inconveniencing that runner and forcing it in on to GIVEN WINGS, which in turn was taken in onto the rightful running of CONGELATOR, which resulted in that horse being tightened for room and forcing its rider to check and shift in across the heels of SNITZEL S JOY, clipping heels, blundering and shifting in, also interfering with ENVIRONMENTAL, causing that horse to be checked. Jockey G. Colless was suspended from riding in races for a period of 12 days, to commence at midnight, 9 October and to expire at midnight, 21 October. Race 7: Neil Mansell Concrete Class 1 H cap 1800m CAPTAIN DODGE Trainer C. Munce was fined $100 for failing to scratch the horse by the prescribed time.
