Fall Seasons Finish, Football Wins Conference Crown College of the Desert wrapped up its fall schedule last week, highlighted by football s American Mountain League win that clinched the conference title. Men s and women s basketball were also actively competing in weekend tournaments. Men s Soccer Previous week: 0-0-1 Men s soccer overcame a three-goal halftime deficit to earn a 3-3 tie against Rio Hondo in their final match of the season. Freshman Joao Leite Stefano scored the first Roadrunner goal on a beautiful assist from freshman Kosugi Masataka. Freshman Kevin Samperio notched the second goal, while sophomore Brandon Teran converted a penalty kick late in the game to tie the score at 3-3. Brandon Montano Freshman goalkeeper Jorge Sepulveda was superb in net for the Roadrunners, making six key saves. Men s soccer finishes its 2015 season at 3-15-1 overall, while finishing 1-6-1 in the Foothill Conference. Women s Soccer Previous week: 0-1 Women s soccer wrapped up their 2015 season with a 4-0 setback while visiting Foothill Conference foe, Rio Hondo. The Lady Roadrunners ended their season ranked 14th in the CCCAA in scoring, with an average of 3.0 goals per game. Freshman Monica Monay led COD in scoring, scoring 13 goals and adding six assists. Women s soccer finishes its season at 8-12 -1 overall, with a final conference mark of 1-7. Karla Casillas makes a nice pass
Women s Volleyball Previous week: 1-1 Women s volleyball split a pair of Foothill Conference matches last week, as they fell 3-1 to Chaffey on Wednesday, before wrapping up their season with a 3-1 win over Rio Hondo on Sophomore Night. Sophomore Yajaira Lopez landed seven kills in their win over Rio Hondo, while fellow sophomore, Maygan Zink, supplied 40 assists, 15 digs and four service aces. Women s volleyball finishes at 10-11 overall, and 7-3 in the Foothill Conference. So. Maygan Zink sets for So. Yajaira Lopez Women s Golf Women s golf sent one participant to last week s 2015 CCCAA Championships, with sophomore Fumika Matsumoto finishing third overall. She shot a round-low 75 on the event s first day, before finishing with an 80 on the second day. Her total of 155 placed her behind by just four strokes. Fumika Matsumoto
Men s Basketball Previous week: 0-3 Men s basketball dropped three contests last week, between a home game against Santa Monica and participation in the Hunter Classic at San Bernardino Valley. Freshman William Brown notched a doubledouble in the Roadrunners loss to Santa Monica, with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Freshman Philippe Salawa added 16 points of his own. Men s basketball hosts Citrus on Wednesday evening at 5:00 PM. Kameron Dashner lays one in Women s Basketball Previous week: 2-1 Women s basketball picked up two wins in the Pasadena City College tournament last weekend, including a 68-33 win over Imperial Valley that clinched the consolation championship. Freshman Ashley Preist led the way on Sunday with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while freshmen Chelsea Reese and Jerrica Perez each added 12 points. Roadrunner football following their big win Football Previous week: 1-0 Football bounced back in a big way, as they sealed their American Mountain League crown with a thrilling 55-51 win over Mt. San Jacinto on Saturday afternoon. Sophomore quarterback Stephen Johnson II completed 29 of 51 passes in his final start at the Roadrunner helm, totaling 388 yards and five touchdowns. He also rushed 15 times for 42 yards and a touchdown. Sophomore Tristian Buyck caught nine passes for 129 yards and three touchdowns, while freshman running back Anthony Ellison caught seven for 102 yards and one touchdown. Roadrunner football finishes at 6-4 overall, while topping the American Mountain League with a 6-1 conference record.
