About Crumpin-Fox Crumpin-Fox Club was conceived in 1969 as the field of dreams of David Berelson, who engaged the services of Roger Rulewich, the longtime right hand man of Robert Trent Jones, Sr., to locate a site that would accommodate a Pine Valley inspired golf course. The Bernardston site was chosen, but construction stalled and the course did not take shape until 1977 when Andy St. Hillaire bought the project, completed the back nine holes and built the present clubhouse. Although Andy was a golfer of admittedly low persistence and high scores, he recognized the potential excellence of the design and preserved it until 1987 when he sold Crumpin-Fox to his good friend William A. Bill Sandri of Bernardston. Sandri contacted Roger Rulewich (left) and the two men collaborated and developed a lifelong affinity while pouring over the original plans for Crumpin-Fox Club. Under their direction the front nine holes were built along with extensive renovations to the existing back nine holes, the driving range and the irrigation system. Bent grass fairways were planted and the course opened in June of 1990. Crumpin-Fox is a captivating blend of mountain and parkland golf. Most holes are secluded in their own realmthere s no housing around the fairways or greens. Variety is the name of the game at Crumpin-Fox, no two holes are alike. You will encounter a couple of stunning short par fours, a short par five, a Redan-style par three, and an all-carry par three (with bailout room to the right) while traversing terrain that alternately dips and rises. Rock outcroppings, tall trees-a few of which haunt the center of fairways-rolling creeks and ponds challenge the best of players. Most of the fairways are Our mission is to provide an atmosphere where members, guests and visitors are comfortable & feel at home. wide and none are overly awkward afoot. You can run the ball onto the greens and safely bail out away from trouble. You will find yourself hitting all types of shots. The greens putt true, but they can give you fits with their multiple tiers, small mounds, and undulations a common theme among Robert Trent Jones Sr. designs. Stunning scenery, well-placed tee boxes, the absence of forced carries, and devoted service make Crumpin-Fox a friendly place for women golfers as well. The name of the Club was derived from the Bernardstonbased Crump Soda Company that was sold in 1853 to Eli Fox; thus becoming the Crump & Fox Soda Company. Many of these Soda bottles were unearthed throughout the property during original construction. Crumpin-Fox Club has a highly acclaimed sister course Fox Hopyard Golf Club in East Haddam, Connecticut. Fox Hopayrd was also designed and constructed by Roger Rulewich under the direction of Bill Sandri. The mission of both Fox Golf courses is to provide an atmosphere where members, guests and friends feel at home. We strive to offer a unique golf experience that is both enjoyable and challenging, the kind of golf that you simply can t get enough of!
