At least 80% must be ridden side by side. 9 Senior and Junior ELEMENTARY D2M BRC QUALIFIER Entry 15 Test: BD Elementary Freestyle to Music 2016 4.5-5 mins. Open to senior and junior members of an affiliated Riding Club. Horses may have up to 35 Medium BD points at the close of prelim entry but no Advanced Medium or above. 10 - Pick a Test Medium/Advanced Medium BRC QUALIFIER Entry 15 Test: BD Medium Freestyle to Music 2016 or BD Advanced Medium Freestyle to Music 2016 Open to senior and junior members of an affiliated Riding Club. Riders may choose which test they are better suited to (Advanced Medium or Medium). MEDIUM: Horses may have up to 35 Adv. Medium points at the close of prelim entry but 0 at PSG or above. ADVANCED MEDIUM: Horses may have up to 35 PSG points but 0 at Inter 1 or above. BRC QUALIFIERS: Please note: If you are placed high enough to qualify for the championships in more than two qualifying classes you MUST tell the Official Steward at the qualifier which two you would prefer to do at the National Championships. Qualification is subject to HQ checking and confirming your eligibility. Numbers to qualify: Pairs 1st placed Junior Novice and Prelim: 1 5 competitors: 1. 6-10: 2 and so on Senior Novice: 1-10: 1. 11-20: 2 and so on Elementary: 1-9: 1. 10-14: 2. 15-19: 3 and so on Pick your own: 1-5: 1. 6-10: 2 and so on All RC entrants must pay a prelim entry of 20 per individual and 26 per pair to British Riding Clubs at least 21 days before the date of the qualifier (see above). Entry forms for postal etries can be found on the BRC website BHS.org.uk and choose BRC, or online entries can be made via the BHS bookshop. Late prelim entries may be accepted at the discretion of the organiser with a late surcharge of 10 per individual or 20 per pair, payable to HQ, if there are sufficient spaces. Late entries cannot be guaranteed therefore should not be paid for until approval from the organiser has been obtained. All individual competitors and at least one of the pair riders must hold BD Music/standard membership in order to compete. All hats must have a visible orange BRC hat tag in place before they are used for warming up and competing. There will be a trained official available on the day to do this for you if your hat does not currently have one. Your horse must have up to date influenza vaccinations. There is a checking device on the BRC website if you are unsure. The official steward on the day will check all passports that do not have an in-date orange sticker applied at a previous Area 18 qualifier this year. BRC AREA ENTRIES MUST BE PAID WITH A RIDING CLUB CHEQUE (Payable to WDRC) or ONLINE. Please email alisonparkinson@mac.com for bank details and reference.

INFORMATION FROM KINGS EQUESTRIAN DIRECTIONS Look on Kings Equestrian website www.kingsequestrian.co.uk for directions to venue. Parking will be horseboxes on the right and trailers on the left. ADMINISTRATION On the day, the vaccination/hat checker and secretary for BRC qualifier classes will be based in the reception area. Please ensure your horse s passport is available for checking. You will not be able to collect your number without it (BRC qualifier competitors). Hats for BRC qualifying classes must be tagged with an orange BRC tag. See the BRC handbook for standards of hat required. BRC riders will not be admitted to the working-in arena without hats that are checked and tagged by the stewards. There are toilets located just outside the main entrance to the building. The Denny`s Diner Café opens from 9.00 am onwards and sells hot and cold food, as well as homemade cakes. There will be a notice board located near the café area, where results will be posted. HORSES NO HORSES TO BE TIED TO TRAILERS OR LORRIES UNLESS SUPERVISED. Horses that are known to get distressed when left in trailers/lorries MUST BE SUPERVISED AT ALL TIMES AND NOT LEFT ALONE Due to limited parking vehicles will be parked very close together actually making it impossible to tie to the sides of vehicles. NO haynets to be tied outside to be eaten and dropped on the car parks. Please pick up any droppings your horse may leave. ARENAS The outside arena is to be used for warming up. We will be limiting numbers in this arena to those competitors about to compete. This is a Health and Safety directive. The Dressage Competition will take place in the indoor arena. No riders other than the next competitor to enter the arena are to stand around the entrance, please leave this area as soon as you have completed your test. MUSIC All D2M competitors are required to be current BD music members and all music is to be licensed and correctly labelled. See BRC rule book for current rules on CD labelling. All music is to be handed in to the secretary at least 1 hour prior to the scheduled time of the test. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY The event is being run under British Riding Club Rules and it is the competitors responsibility to familiarise themselves with these rules, which can be downloaded from the BHS website. All individual competitors and at least one of the pair riders must hold BD Music/ standard membership in order to compete. Tack may not be checked and it is the competitors responsibility to ensure they comply with BRC rules to avoid elimination by the judge. The organisers of this event and the landowners have taken all reasonable precautions to ensure the health and safety of everyone present. For these measures to be effective, everyone must take all reasonable precautions to avoid and prevent accidents and must obey the instructions of the organisers and all officials and stewards. Potential and actual health and safety hazards, risks, accidents and incidents should be reported without delay to a club officer or steward. The judges/stewards should be treated with respect and their decisions are final. Anyone found to be rude or disrespectful to any official will be asked to leave the venue and may be disqualified. No refunds will be made. WDRC, the BHS, BRC and the land owners will not be held responsible for any loss, injury or accident to person, animal or property. Dogs must be on leads at all times and all fouling must be removed. The judge s decision and that of the BRC Official Steward are final. Any objections must be made in accordance with BRC rule G14.l

The Aims The aim of the competition is to provide an entertaining spectacle for both the competitors and onlookers The Test The test may be performed in any sequence, but must show medium and free walk, working trot and working canter on both reins, as well as some medium trot strides, as shown on the test sheet. There must be a halt at the beginning and end of the test on the centre line, facing the judge. The pair can separate during the test but at least 80% of the test should be ridden as a pair. The duration of the test should be between 4 1/2 and 5 minutes. The time is taken from the exact moment when the pair moves forward from the halt at the beginning The test finishes with a halt and salute anywhere on the centre line to signal the end of the test. The music may start either before entry at A or after the first halt and shall be provided by competitors on their own CD. The CD should only contain music for this particular competition. Failure to complete the test in the allowed time will not incur time faults, but may be taken into consideration when awarding of the Artistic Merit. There are no errors of course and the bell will not be rung should the rider make an obvious mistake, but points may be deducted under the Artistic Merit. Any type of music may be selected. Editing should be fluid and smooth. The floor patterns used should utilise the entire arena as imaginatively as possible, with suitable balance between left and right. Movements, figures and their placement should be obvious to the judge. The test should be interesting and pleasing to watch. Movements Any movement used must be BD Novice level, but not above.
