CELEBRATING 23 YEARS OF SINGLES GOLF IN AMERICA Albany Chapter - American Singles Golf Association May 2015 President s Message The golf season got off to a sunny start at Capital Hills with over 30 players teeing off for a fun filled day that ended with a delicious buffet and socializing. Thanks to Helene and Ellen for organizing a wonderful event. We welcomed two new players, Deb and Nancy; hope to see both of you again soon. Thanks to Sandy for organizing the 1 st informal golf outing at Town of Colonie and to Rita for putting together the 9-hole group. We had over 20 people play that day and the weather was beautiful. By now you have received emails about our next two formal events, the first at Fox Run in June, the next one at Cronin s in July. Hope you can join us at one or both. If you have a favorite course you d like to play, please feel free to book some tee times and send an email to albanyasga2002@yahoo.com with the information so we can send it to our members. Looking forward to seeing you on the golf course soon. ~Marian (Madam Prez) May 2015 ASGA Board Meeting The May ASGA meeting was held on May 6th at Salty s Pub in Clifton Park. Members in attendance were: Marian Gogola, Mike Congero, Helene Chapados, Sandy Kuntz, Rich Shostak, Gary O Brien. Rita Roberti, Al Kostanoski, Roger Fucilli, Kathryn Henningson, Jeanie Broshek, Ellen Riley and Kathleen Patterson. Topics discussed included: Prizes: After discussion, it was decided that for the remaining formal events, there will be no charge of $5.00 charge for prizes. Prize monies will come from the treasury. Formal Golf: The next formal golf outing will be Sunday June 7th at Fox Run. Discussions were held about where to have the dinner since there was concern about the golf course being able to deliver. Final arrangements about post-golf dinner will be included in the e-mail announcement going out in the next few days. July s formal golf event will be on Sunday July 12th at Cronin s. Discussion included the ability to stay overnight and golf the next day-monday July 13th. Marian will check into the overnight availability and let the membership know. Informal Golf: Sandy Kunz will be arranging an informal event for Saturday, May 9th, at a site to be announced. Social Calendar: Social Hour will be Friday May 8th at Martel s at the Town of Colonie Golf Course. Membership. Introductions were made of 4 new participants (Al Kostanoski, Roger Fucilli, Kathryn Henningson, Jeanie Broshek) attending via the Meet-Up postings. Madame President reviewed formal and informal golf events and guidelines for the new attendees. Capital Region Golf Cards: Marian Gogola reviewed for the new attendees the benefits of the golf card. Kathleen Patterson will check with supplier to see if cards are still available for $23.00/card. A message will go out to the membership to determine how many cards are needed. Next meeting will be held Tuesday, June 2nd, 2015, at Salty s Pub in Clifton Park. Please note day change. CAPITAL HILLS OUTING & KENTUCKY DERBY DAY MAY 2, 2015 After a very long and cold winter, we finally had wonderful weather for opening season outing! We had some concerns for a while with the mudslide, but the course was in great shape! Thirty-three players came and enjoyed the day. Martel's is a great setting tor the Kentucky Derby party. We had an Italian buffet while watching the Kentucky Derby in our private tent! Bob Werner organized a betting pool for the Derby. Thank you Bob for organizing that! Nancy Mulholland and Deb Platsinski, our newest members, sold 50/50 ticket. The winner was Bob Werner, $65. Thanks ladies for selling the tickets.
