The Gabs At Friday evening's reception for the Gulfport Multipurpose Senior Center's Summer Artist reception at the Catherine Hickman Theatre, we asked four of the artists why they chose to join the summer class. Here's what four artists told us. Katie Dickson, third year student: "Because I just love it. It's so relaxing and it's a lovely bunch of people we have. It's like meeting with friends." Bonnie Dupuis, third year student: "Because I retired and I joined the art classes and when the teacher leaves [for the summer] you just keep painting." Kay Wehry, first year student: "Because I love art. I walked past the class one day and they were very cordial and said, 'Why don't you come in?'" Anna Brown, fifth year student: "I was with the SHINE program and I looked across the hall [at the Gulfport Multipurpose Senior Center] and thought, 'Gosh, what's going on in there?"
