And if you know of a member who isn t receiving the newsletter at all, encourage them to contact me as well so I can add them to the distribution list. Thank you, Successful Once Again Well, Sight-In Days are over and the hunters are on their way. We had a very successful turnout for the club s Sight-In Days, November 5 and 6. The weather was beautiful and the best we have had in several years. There were 31 shooters and 41 guns sighted in. We had a great group of volunteers supporting the event that brought all their shooting accessories, including some nice spotting scopes to support the hunters. Several hunters had new scopes that needed to be bore sighted and the volunteers were well prepared to support them. We would like to thank the volunteers for their continued support for the two day event. Al Foster/Mike Parker 3

CMP Rifle Shoot Schedule for 2017 Now Available This year s shoots will now be changed to Sundays and the cost of using the club gun will be $50. The reason for this is the increased price of ammunition. If you figure the cost of 52 rounds of 30-06 ammunition; you will find that you will pay over $50. So, by raising the cost, we are only recovering the cost of ammunition for the club. The cost to shoot bringing your own ammunition and gun will remain at $10. All shoots will start at 8 a.m. on the rifle range. May 14, 2017 CMP Shoot June NO SHOOT DUE TO COMPTONS July 9, 2017 Poker Shoot August 13, 2017 Poker Shoot Christmas Party Thank You! Some did well with demon glows and spikes near the channel. Thornapple Lake: In Barry County was producing some fish for ice anglers however caution needs to be used. Branch County: Anglers were taking limit catches of bluegill at Cemetery Lake. Tip-ups were showing up on Messenger Lake. Please use caution. Muskegon River: Continues to produce some steelhead. Water temperatures were in the mid 30's. Skim ice was found along the shoreline. CHAIRS FOR SALE The Club is selling excess chairs. We have 100 metal, folding chairs at $5 each. If you are interested in purchasing chairs, or know of anybody who is, including nonmembers, contact Jerry Hebner, Michigan Free Fishing Weekends Two days twice a year, families and friends can enjoy one of Michigan's premiere outdoor activities, Michigan Fishing, for FREE! The 2017 Free Fishing Weekends are scheduled for this winter: February 18 & 19 and this summer: June 10 & 11. All fishing license fees will be waived for two days. Residents and out-ofstate visitors may enjoy fishing on both inland and Great Lakes' waters for all species of fish. All fishing regulations will still apply. For many, the annual Free Fishing Weekend has become a tradition - a time to get together and have some fishing fun. While some may find time to reflect while fishing, there are no limits to variations on a great theme! Experienced anglers who offer a child or young adult the chance to take their first fishing trip can provide a rewarding experience for all. People who fish tend to understand the natural aquatic network of plants and animals that help to sustain fish as well as the regulations that govern fishing in Michigan. Upcoming Dates for the 2017 Junior Rifle Program (Note: not a complete list) Jan. 7 Jan. 14 Jan. 21 Postal Shoot Jan. 28 NO PRACTICE Feb. 4 Feb. 11 Feb. 18 Postal Shoot Feb. 25 NO PRACTICE March 4 March 11 March 18 Feb. 25 NO PRACTICE Wobble Trap Course Open Construction was completed in early November on a Wobble Trap Course. Trap and Skeet Chair Tom Holt, says demand for this type of course in the area was high. The most competitive people I ve ever met are Trap shooters, said Holt. Trap shooters are rabid about the sport. I encourage everyone to come out and shoot, whether they are experienced in Trap or not. The point is to come out here and have fun. Solar cells run the batteries that in turn run the new machines throwing the targets. A new target house was also constructed as part of the setup, which incorporates four ground machines and two tower machines, throwing targets from a total of six launch positions. The entire project cost approximately $10,000, with donations from members making up a large portion of the cost. All of the Trap and Skeet Courses, including Wobble, are available during the same times (see calendar for dates and times). For groups of five or more, Holt will open the Wobble Course up for appointments outside of those times. Costs for Trap and Skeet per 25 targets are $4 for members and $5 for non-members. For the new Wobble Trap Range, costs are $8 for members and $10 for non-members for 25 targets. 7
