CMP SHOOTS SCHEDULED TO RESUME JULY THE 9TH Well the robins were there, but so was the cold weather. On Saturday May 14 th we had two brave souls show up for the CMP Shoot. There were rumors of a snow flake being seen just after the shoot, but in spite of the weather a successful shoot was held. In the end the younger shooter prevailed, but only by a mere 10 points. We took the month of June off,. On July 9 th we will be having a Poker Shoot. So break out your 22 caliber or small bore rifle and bring it down for the shoot. If it has a scope or just iron sights, bring it down because you shoot at playing cards that are face down on a cardboard backing. There will be volleys with poison cards and wild cards. You will have a separate score sheet to score your targets, and a great time will be had by all. The cost will be $10 per person, no club guns will be provided the shoot will start at 8:00 am. Bring a friend and let s Play Some Poker the fun way, see you there. For questions call Gene Herrman at 269-465-5026. July 9: Poker Shoot Aug. 13: Poker Shoot Jason Grimm helps Jim Wojcik line up the target during the Retirees June center fire rifle shoot. The retirees meet one Wednesday a month at 10 a.m. to discuss and shoot firearms. You don t need to be retired to join in on the shooting activities. Follow us at BCSC Youth Programs on Facebook Junior Shotgun Program Jan and Larry Murray of Lost Nation Archery are long-time supporters of the Compton Traditional Bowhunter s Rendezvous held every year at the Berrien County Sportsman's Club. Jan and Larry are seen here at this year's rendezvous. Visit Lost Nation's catalog at www.lostnationarchery.com. Larry is always glad to help you with your archery questions. Give Larry a call at 269-659-6002, or visit Jan and Larry in their shop just north of Sturgis; 26393 Mintdale Road, Sturgis, MI 49091. The shotgun program is open to both boys and girls between the ages of 10 and 18. The basic purpose of the association is to provide training in the safe operation of firearms and to provide a fun environment for children to participate in a sport they might not normally have access to. Additionally, it teaches kids both maturity and responsibility. The preferred shot shells are #7 ½ and #8 shot. Each participant must provide12-guage shells, or through a grant from the NRA Foundation, 20 gauge shells have been supplied. Each participant typically uses 50 shells during each practice. Since the Junior shotgun program events occur primarily outdoors, scheduling of activities are subject to weather conditions. The first meeting and safety class will be July 12 at 6 p.m. at the clubhouse. Cost to participate is $50 for members and $65 for non-members. The program runs Tuesdays at 7 p.m. from July 12 through Aug. 30.
