The Association had a surplus of $31,940 for the year. This was a good outcome as we had extra outlays this year totalling about $36,000 giving us a large reduction in surplus from last year. The additional outlays were for Girls Cricket $8,000, increased Secretary payment $10,000, extra grants to clubs $10,000, and a reduced registration fee amount, $8,000 with less players signing on this year. The July P&L shows a loss for the month of $6,659.

Qld Cricket Graham Powers July calendar is attached to the minutes. Matt McEwan - QC will be working with BNJCA to establish a long term strategy to alleviate the grounds issue - QC is looking forward to working with BNJCA to implement a rolling out of modified formats from 2018/19 - Field staff will continue to work with clubs to promote in schools during the traditional sign on period - Sam Harris (GDO) will be focusing on club specific priorities this season 2. Draw & Grounds Committee Reminder to clubs that there will be no U9 played on Saturday mornings this season. Players can either play on Friday night with a Super Six club or in a combined U10 team on Saturday morning. 3. Rules Committee 2017-18 rules Geoff Cowles has done a draft of the rule changes. Secretary will work through them to check. Girls Rules As it looks like we will have an U15 girls competition, a draft of new rules has been worked on by Robert Bailey and Geoff Cowles and has been sent back and forward between the two to incorporate a final girls rules section, covering u10-u15 into the Rule Book. New cricket formats BNJCA issued an explanatory letter of our position on new format cricket to QCA and CA. A copy of this was distributed to all Delegates last week. Last Sunday, Cricket Australia tested some new format rule changes to determine if they provide any benefit before presenting them as possible changes for junior representative

competition. The six players from Brisbane North who were invited to participate were part of a twelve player team. There will be four teams playing two game during game the day. The test rules included field restrictions (5 players in catching positions from slip to point or on the boundary), a pitch that is shorter by 2 metres and a 142g ball. Teams still had 11 players. 4. Girls Cricket update Girls cricket Camps Robert is organising these. Grant of $5,000 and $40,000 received so far. This money will be going towards implementing the girls training, camps and competition and spent as follows: $9,900 Deliver Girls T20Blast Programs (100 places) $9,900 Super 6 Competition $6,500 Deliver Girls Come & Play Program $6,500 Deliver Girls January Camps Program $2,700 Marketing Budget $4,500 Engage Girls Cricket Coordinators We will receive $25/Registrant Girls Come & Play Program and this money will be directed back into the cost associated with running the program. We will receive $25/Registrant Girls January Camps Program and this money will be directed back into the cost associated with running the program Flyers have been produced, camp shirt design organised, displays set up at various clubs and cricket outlets and organisation of the clubs involved. Development of Girls Cricket $2,000 Growing Cricket for Girls Club Grants - Albany Creek, Everton Districts, Sandgate- Redcliffe, Valleys, Wilston-Norths, The Lakes and Toombul have been successful. Robert provided a default Grant template consisting of $1,000 in coaching and $1,000 to purchase 2 x Junior kits, however, ultimately clubs could elect to use this funding according to their own demands. Girls Representative cricket Robert is trying to formalise a possible carnival at Kalinga Park in January 2019 with NSW teams being invited. Establish a Div 1 competition BNJCA wanted to establish a Div 1 competition for the girls on Sunday mornings, played at Kalinga Park. It is looking less likely as there does not seem to be girl competitions being organised as yet in other Brisbane Associations. 5. Grounds Committee Robert Bailey has been investigating Northstar grounds with a possible 5 grounds being available. Robert provided a verbal summary of this. There is more work to be done by Robert re finalising a lease before any more work can progress. Also investigated Telegraph Road grounds. Current information indicates that it will be at least 2 years before the grounds are released for use by BCC. We need to still register our interest so we can be first port of call by council. Steve Casey is following up a possible 3 new fields at Beams Road Carseldine near the old TAFE college. Church Soccer has contacted Steve and he is talking to them about how to best fit the cricket grounds within the soccer ovals. Grounds questionnaires have issued to all clubs. Secretary will be sending out school agreements for oval use next month. 6. Building & Assets Committee Brendale Bruce has got the key for the building and this has been passed on to Mike Gregory, as he is the asset and clothing co-ordinator now. Bruce has now received a second

key and he has given this to Steve Casey as he is at the SPSA ovals nearly every day, see Mike or Steve for access to the storage bay or meeting room. Bertha Street There has been no further contact with BCC last month. Clothing & Equipment Completed the stocktake of all clothing and orders have been sent to suppliers. Expected arrival will be late August for most clothing. Thanks to Ian Rushton and Mike Gregory for collection of gear from Dale Sherwood s business and putting it into the new storage shed. 7. QJC meeting Ian went to the AGM on 29 July. He was elected as secretary again. QJC will be running pools for their U12, U13 and U15 competitions this Championship. U15 Championship BNJCA may be sending only one team this year. Andy Richards (State Female Development Manager) spoke to QJC about women s cricket and looking at the possibility of introducing a girl s rep competition but there has been no decision on which age group(s) yet. 8. Trials for U13, U14, U15 U13 & U14 selections have been finalised by John Powell and U15 is under Col Wade s control. 9. Ian Healy Cup Currently we have 15 teams nominating: Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association 3 Gold Coast 1 Logan & Beaudesert 2 Redlands 1 Metropolitan South West 2 Sunshine Coast 1 Easts 3 Ipswich & West Moreton 1 Cricket Far North 1 Secretary will be trying to get another team if possible or we will reduce BN to 2 teams only. Secretary has spoken with Eatons Hill Hotel to get quotes re accommodation and he will know more by the end of next week. Currently it looks like, for an additional $22/player/day, that they could stay at the Eatons Hill Conference centre in twin air conditioned rooms. 10. Next meeting is AGM 28 August at 7.00pm 11. Round the table Richard Clay Grounds are booked for Reevesie Cup and Anstey La Frantz Shield Heidi Clark o Super 6s will commence the second half season on the 26 th Jan (Aus Day).
