Motion: All Inwards correspondence accepted and outward correspondence endorsed Moved: Bruce Boland Seconded: Darren Wheeler CARRIED Business arising from Correspondence Mowing at Kalinga Park Ian Rushton has spoken to BCC about mowing. He received quotes for mowing Kalinga Park and decided to go with the current BCC mowing contractor. It will be done once a week from now until Xmas break. Field 5 is now being done twice a week until Xmas. Rubbish & Parking at Kalinga Park Bruce Boland asked officials of teams who are playing at Kalinga Park to take photos of their area after the game and them to him. He wants to stop the vexatious claims by disgruntled neighbours and this is seen as a quick and effective response. We have already asked BCC about more bins and been advised that it will not happen. He quoted from their response, "I have discussed with our Parks area and at this point in time they will not be putting any additional permanent Council bins in the park. We appreciate the responsibility taken by the club to remove the rubbish after each use. Council is supportive of the club to provide their own additional bins on game days only. Obviously these would need to be removed from site after each use." Action Item: Clubs to tell teams playing at Kalinga Park to photograph the area when they leave and photo to Secretary or send to his mobile phone. Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association Inc. Page 3 of 7
Parking is fine within the park near the Scout hut and in Digger St and outside the park in Kalinga Street is also fine. The only place that he requested parents not to park is in Bertha St. Please tell your team parents to not open gates and drive into obviously non-official parking areas. Action Item: Clubs to request parents park in designated areas at Kalinga Park FINANCIAL REPORT: Balance of accounts as at 14 October was $18, in the Working account and $41, in the Business Saver. Team nominations and Draw Final team nominations have shown an increase of 72 teams over the same time last year. The first week went without any serious problems. Curlew Park 2 turf wicket was vandalised and Saturday games were able to be moved to alternate venues but the clubs involved didn t contact me early enough. Consequently the moving of the games to alternate venues was too late to be implemented. The Reevesie Cup games on Sunday 11 Oct were moved from Curlew Park 2 to Kalinga Park 2 & 3 and the games at Ashgrove 2 & 3 were moved to other ovals due to rain under the covers. Finsbury Park is unable to be used right up to Xmas due to work on the oval. Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association Inc. Page 4 of 7
2. New Code of Conduct John Powell said that the new one is to include the categorisation of offenses into levels so that disciplinary sanction can be applied uniformly. The final draft needs to be ratified by the Management committee next month and then it will put up on the website. 3. New Disputes and Discipline Policy John Powell said that the policy will go from level 1 to level 4. Level 3 breaches where the sanction handed down is greater than 6 days and all Level 4 breaches will be reported to Queensland Cricket. The final draft also needs to be ratified by the Management committee next month and then it will put up on the website along with the New Code of Conduct. 4. Rep Cricket a. U12 Trials Bruce Boland said the trial went well with only 1 player failing to turn up on the 2 days. The changed venue to Canterbury Park, owing to the digging up of Albany Creek Cricket Club South Pine oval caused no concerns and the BHLLCC were very helpful in setup and close. They had the canteen open both days. BN were selecting 4 teams, 1 Championship and 3 Ian Healy Development teams, and the Secretary said the names of the successful trialists were ed out on Monday 19 Oct. He said he also sent s to the U12 coaches supplying the various forms and team information. b. U13 Trial Reevesie Cup Reevesie said the Heat won Reevesie Cup. Games were played at Kalinga first round, then Everton DCC 2 nd round and finally Curlew Park. Secretary said the names of the successful trialists, except U13 Ipswich, were ed out on Monday 26 Oct. He said he also sent s to the U13 coaches supplying the various forms and team information. Ian expected the Ipswich team to be announced later tonight or early tomorrow. c. U14 Trial Anstey La Frantz John Powell said the Redbacks won ALF but it hasn t been officially confirmed yet. BN were selecting 3 teams, 1 Championship and 2 Sunshine Coast Development teams, and the Secretary said the names of the successful trialists were ed out on Sunday 25 Oct. He said he also sent s to the U14 coaches supplying the various forms and team information d. U15 Trials & U16 Selections Ian Rushton said he was a bit disappointed in numbers who turned up for the U15 trial. There was quite a few accepting but not turning up on the trial day. However, he said the quality was there and he was satisfied with the outcome. BN were selecting 2 teams, 1 U15 Championship and 1 Mixed U15/16 Development team for the Impact Challenge, and the Secretary said the names of the successful trialists were ed out on Sunday 25 Oct. John Powell said the U16 team had been selected after he had spoken to various Taverners and Grade club coaches and he had seen all the players. The U16 team and the extra players for the combined U15/16 team for the Impact Challenge were ed out advices on Sunday 25 Oct. Secretary said he also sent s to the U15 and U16 coaches supplying the various forms and team information. e. Trial dates change John Powell discussed moving the U13 & U14 trials to February in the season preceding the representative games, similar to what is done in the U12 selection trials. The reason was the short time frames when rain intervenes, as happened this year and the problems it caused in trying to Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association Inc. Page 5 of 7
organise trials and appointing coaches for Reevesie & ALF teams. A date needs to be determined for February 2016 as March is too late because football codes start. U12 is held on 14 Feb so maybe 21 Feb 2016 is a suitable date. John wants to hear from clubs if they have any comments on the change. A few comments stating that it should be on a Sunday due to school cricket and John confirmed that it would be a Sunday. f. New Selection Policy John Powell said there were quite a number of players who could not attend the Under 13 and Under 14 preliminary trials because of other cricket trials, family holidays, etc. John has re-written the policy to provide with "room to move" and use discretion to provide an invitation to a Reevesie Cup or Anstey La Frantz Shield team, to a player who was unable to attend the preliminary trial days with a legitimate excuse. He said he has written into the policy the need for the player to provide factual written evidence for the excusal, such as boarding pass, doctor s certificate etc. so that there is not a way of abusing the system. 5. Deadlines Invoices issued for Player fees and Affiliation Secretary apologised for not issuing the invoices on 24 October, but he was overloaded with the rep player s and other related paperwork and didn t have time to get them done. He hopes to get them issued tomorrow. The deadline for payment is 6 th November. 6. Qld Cricket - Cam Worley Spoke about his report and the work done last month. Report is attached to the minutes. 7. Round the table Ian Rushton He again reminded clubs that competition points will be stripped for teams who do not put in their results and the player stats into MyCricket. Darren Wheeler Advised that Noel Jurgensen s father died. He reminded clubs that there is a Govt grant for funding for rep players available. Jon Malone He said that Valleys grounds hunt was going well and they had possibly found 2 more grounds. Maurie Bloomfield He said the Super 6 was going well at North Lakes Glyn Netto a. He said there had been some dubious LBW decisions with players brought back later. b. Players will be away from club teams next week because Met North is having games. Wanted to know what could be done about it. He was advised that nothing could be done. He asked what should happen if a player was Not Out last week and was unavailable next week. He was told that under the rules he is OUT. c. He said a club had allowed up to 6 players in a team to play in black shorts. He was advised that they should play in whites as explained in the Rule book. Ian Rushton said that he had spoken to the club concerned and it would not happen again. QC Matt McEwan He spoke about the new CA talk which was mentioned in the correspondence and suggested that clubs go along or even arrange for QC to deliver it at the club. Brisbane North Junior Cricket Association Inc. Page 6 of 7
Richard Clay He said he was asked by an U13 coach to not play the LBW rule. He was advised to refer anyone back to the rule book. Brett Henschell Brett said he had already heard of Mankad being done by an U14 team. Suggested that we reinforce the rules to all clubs again that we do not allow it - Rule 5.3 (c) & (d). In U10 games he has seen wides being called when the batsman hit the ball and placement of fielders on the boundary instead of on the 15m markers. Ian Reeves He will be at QJC 31 Oct and will report back next meeting.
