ALFIE S ANGELS Sunday, October 2 BBC One Wales, 9am #AlfiesAngels It s been a tough 16 weeks for Welsh rugby legend Gareth Thomas with plenty of tears and trauma as Alfie s Angels - a group of beginners training for the Cardiff Half Marathon - get ready for the race of their lives. Now that the big day has arrived, it s time to look back on their efforts. In a special recap documenting the girls efforts, the Tŷ Gwyn Mums from Cardiff, the Nail Bar Girls from Haverfordwest and the Royal Glamorgan Nurses from Pontyclun hope to turn hard graft into sporting success. It s been a transformational journey for the ladies, surviving a bootcamp in the middle of the Welsh hills as well as juggling the demands of daily life with work and family. CARDIFF HALF MARATHON 2016 LIVE Sunday, October 2 BBC One Wales, 9.30am #BBCCardiffHalf Following the success of the World Half Marathon in March, Wales largest race returns as the Cardiff Half Marathon is shown live on BBC One Wales for the first time. It s the day many have spent months preparing for as Jason Mohammad leads the presenting team on the ground for all the build-up and action from the capital city. Nearly 22,000 runners will take to the streets of Cardiff for what will be a jam-packed day of events as both elite competitors and first-timers aim for the finish line. It promises to be an unmissable day of tears and triumph from one of Wales s biggest sporting events. There will be full highlights from the day s events in the evening presented by Lowri Morgan. The popular series is back to fight for the rights of viewers who ve been ripped off or let down. Each week the team exposes scams and poor service, and reveals the dodgy deals to avoid. In Llanelli, Lucy Owen meets angry customers of a major travel firm whose holidays were ruined by building work. However, as a nation, we ve got bigger - BBC Wales Today s Jamie Owen included. In Fat v Carbs with Jamie Owen the popular news presenter follows a diet that goes directly against government healthy eating advice - and common sense. A controversial new report says the official advice is actually making us bigger, and that it s the food industry that s telling us what to eat. The report says it isn t butter, milk and other fat that s to blame - the problem actually lies elsewhere. KEEPING THE EUROS DREAM ALIVE Tuesday, October 4 BBC One Wales, 10.40pm Welsh football is in dreamland with the nation uniting behind Chris Coleman s team as they excelled at Euro 2016. As another qualifying campaign gets under way, this time for the World Cup, former international Dean Saunders takes a look at what legacy the team s success in Europe can leave for Welsh football. In the programme he speaks to current star Joe Allen and former Wales manager Mark Hughes and meets some of the army of volunteers who run the hundreds of grassroots clubs and junior teams. He asks where the next Gareth Bale or Aaron Ramsey can be found, if Wales is to continue competing with the very best. Dean finds out what those running Welsh football are already planning to help football in Wales thrive. And he asks what else could be done to keep Wales s football party going, for the benefit of the game and for Wales as a country. Stephen Morgan 6

In what has been both a physical and emotional journey for the three teams of women, Alfie has done everything he can to get them ready for the starting line. The last in the series follows the girls final preparations for the race as they carb-load at Alfie s pasta party, and enjoy a few surprises to help psych them up for one of the UK s biggest road races. With all of Wales behind them, it s one last push for Alfie s Angels as all 100 runners gather at the starting line to begin the Cardiff Half Marathon. Will they all make it across the finish line? Iolo surprises Tyler by taking him to the Registry Office to arrange a date for their wedding. After deciding they want to start a family together the happy couple attempt to ask Colin to move out. But it seems they will have to persevere with the situation. Cadno is furious with Eifion s response to her engagement to DJ, and throws him out of Penrhewl. Jim tries to give Courtney a driving lesson but things go wrong and, following an unintended cruel remark from him, they end up quarrelling. Sara Jones 8
