Al McGeehan or Mayor Al, as he is known in the city of Holland, visited Baldwin St. Middle School on Thursday, May 17. The former Holland High School teacher and Holland Mayor is now retired and travels West Michigan bringing his knowledge and love of the Civil War to area schools. This is the tenth year that Mr. McGeehan has presented to the 8th graders at Baldwin. He brings a wealth of knowledge, and as the kids say, a lot of cool stuff. The stories and stuff not in our textbooks is what makes history come alive and is what Mayor Al delivers each and every time he visits. When asked about the experience, eighth grader, JP Janik, said, Mr.McGeehan really gives us a visual of what this war was really like." We're thankful for this memorable experience for our students!
