ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS Ballpark Classics Baseball Game MLB Edition Figure B Read the instructions completely before beginning g assembly. You will need a Phillips screwdriver. 1. Remove the game from the box and set aside all packaging. Lift the interior felt-covered field board out of the game base and set it aside. It is felt-side-down. Remove the tape strip to free the batting rod (the batting rod is the long wooden rod that slides within the game base.) Figure A 2. Turn the game base upside down. Locate the bag with 6 screws and 6 black rubber feet. Install as shown in Figure A at right. Do not over-tighten the screws. Turn the game base back over so that it is sitting on its newly installed feet. 3. Locate the 3 parts shown in Figure B. The two plastic bushings are identical. As shown in Figures B and C, slide one onto the top of the metal shaft and push the other into the hole. If included, save replacement pins for future use. 4. From behind home plate, push the batting rod all the way into the game base. Insert the assembly from Figure B into the game as shown in Figure C, making sure that the hole in the top of the metal shaft is parallel to (in line with) the batting rod as shown by the arrows in Figure D. IMPORTANT: lf it is not aligned as shown, the bat will not line up properly when you install it in the final step. Adjust if needed by lifting the assembly out slightly l and moving the gear a tooth at a time until it is aligned as described. 5. Insert the larger plastic washer as shown in Figure E. 6. Carefully thread the ball knobs with screws into each hole in the end of the batting rod as shown in Figure F until they are tight and square against the ends. 7. Set the completed game base aside. 8. Install decals Locate the decal sheet containing the decals at right. Locate the plastic parts shown at right. Install decals on the front sides of the plastic parts as shown. Installation tips: Install all decals, except for the foul lines. Leave the foul lines for later. Install the Left Field Foul Line and Right Field Foul Line after the fences have been installed or at step 17. This will allow you to line them up more closely with the baselines. IMPORTANT: After installing the scoring disk decals use a pencil to punch through the decal to the center holes of both disks. 2010 Ballpark Classics, Inc. U.S. Patent 7,648,141 All rights reserved 2
9. Decals Locate the decal sheet containing the MLB Edition decal set. Locate the plastic parts shown on the sheet. Install decals on the correct sides of the plastic parts, as shown. Install decals, except for the foul lines. Leave the foul lines for later. Adding the foul lines after the fences have been installed will allow you to line them up more closely with the baselines. Note that the fence will be installed such that its lower section will be below the level of the field so do not install decals too low on the fence. 10. Struts Insert 10 black plastic struts into the felt-covered field board as shown in Figure G, with the feet pointing away from home plate. Slide each strut into place by pushing down and then sliding away from home plate. The first time you install the struts, they will fit tightly. Do not force them. Be patient, and when the feet are lined up properly, they will slide in. 11. Scoreboard Insert the scoreboard into the two slots behind center-field as shown in Figure H, and lock it into place by sliding it to the left. 12. Left-Field Fence The left-field fence is the longest outfield fence section. It is shown in Figure I. Insert it straight down into its matching slots and then lock it into place by sliding it to the left. The four fence sections must be installed in order, from left to right, starting with the left-field fence. Figure G Figure H Figure I x 10 3
13. Center-Field Fence Next, insert the center-field fence in Figure J. The center-field fence is the section with the half circle cutout on top. Lock into place by sliding it to the left. 14. Right-Center-Field Fence Next, insert the right-center-field fence in its slot as shown in Figure K. Lock into place by sliding it to the left. Figure J 15. Right-Field Fence Next, insert the right-field fence in its slot as shown in Figure L. Lock into place by sliding it to the left. Figure K Figure L 4
16. Pitching Pipe Locate the Velcro patch. Peel off the adhesive backing and stick it onto the underside of the felt-covered field board, as shown in Figure M and the close-up view in Figure N. Now, place the pitching pipe through the scoreboard as shown in Figure O and thread the Velcro tongue down through the center hole. Try not to catch the tongue on the felt top. Now, hold the pipe by its tongue underneath the field board and pull down and toward home plate. Stick the Velcro tongue to its mate on the underside of the feltcovered field board. Figure Q shows the pitching pipe properly installed. The pitching pipe should rest on the center-field fence. The mouth of the pitching pipe at field level should be centered and tight against the flat side of the center hole in the field board. The inside surface of the pitching pipe p should be even with the felt playing field, allowing the baseball to roll through easily both up and down the pipe. After extended play, you can re-tighten the pitching pipe by repositioning the Velcro tongue. 17. Scoring Disks Align both scoring disk s center holes to the holes in the game base as shown in Figure P. 18. Place Field Board into Game Base Place the felt-covered field board (Figure Q) into the game base (Figure R) while making sure that the scoring disks are still centered over their holes. 19. Gather and separate the 3 clear plastic post and screw sets. At each point shown in Figure S, place the post into the hole and secure with the screw up through the bottom. Hand tighten only. Do not use a screwdriver or other tool. Do not over tighten. The field anchors in the right and left-field corners thread through the scoring disks. Make sure that the scoring disks spin easily. If they do not, loosen the screws. 20. Place one end of the ball return cover into a slot as shown in Figure T. Slightly bend the ball return cover up at the center and fit the other end into the slot on the other side. Use extra baseballs to track outs in the left three holes and to track runners in the right three holes. Use inning peg to track innings using the holes for top and bottom of current inning. 21. Remove the brass thumb screw from the bat, and then remove one of the two black rubber bat washers. From behind home plate, push the batting rod all the way into the game base. Now insert the threaded end of the bat into the hole in the top of the metal shaft so that the bat is near the 6 o clock position and behind the plate as shown in Figure U. Replace the black bat washer so there is a washer on both sides of the shaft. Now replace the thumb screw and hand-tighten until the rubber spacers are slightly compressed. 22. Now, place foul line decals on fences. To customize your game, place billboard stickers on fences and outer edges of scoreboard. You can also place your favorite team s felt pennant (see Figure V) on the pitching pipe or fences. Carefully snip out the pennants using a sharp scissors. Do not apply decals or pennants to the felt field. See ballparkclassics.com and packaging for photo examples. Figure S Figure T Figure V Figure U 23.
