He did not respond to the treatment and last week he had a bone marrow tranplant operation. His family arranged a function at our club before he went into hospital after Lawson requested that he would like to play bowls with his family and friends. It was an emotional day and the club made a presentation a hoodie to Lawson. The operation will mean Lawson will only be able to see immediate family for some time and the family will endure a financial burden. A fund has been set up and donations by going to https://au.gofundme.com/please-help-lawson-andhis-family. The club has decided to run a charity day to raise funds for the Lawson and his family and hope to involve all sections of the community including other bowling clubs. Details on the day will follow in the near future.
FROM THE BOARD of MANAGEMENT The Board met on Monday 3 rd of September with all newly elected and appointed members; Mario La Morticella, Keith Walton, Len Clarke, Paul Dodd and Nicole Morrison present. They were welcomed by our president who also highlighted that with restructure of portfolios and the abilities to administer their portfolios we were well placed for this season. Selection Selection is traditionally an area that is challenging at all bowls clubs as it deals with differing opinions on processes and abilities. The Board recognises theses challenges and the issues that arise and through Director, Len Clarke will discuss, monitor and review the processes with our selectors and coaches to assist in achieving the best outcomes. An early initiative will be the allocation of a selector to each pennant side for players to discuss any issues that they may have. The right to elevate any discussion to the next level (selection committee) exists if deemed necessary. We have both experienced and new selectors undertaking the roles and they all have the Board s full support.
