1 UPSHOT Presentation Day Sponsored by the Mt. Evelyn Community Bank Branch of the Bendigo Bank Saturday 11 May was a brilliant day for a game of bowls for all those playing a game prior to the club lunch and presentations. We had the pleasure of the company of Leanne Vaytauer from the Bendigo Bank who started the day with the presentation of the Defibrillator for the club. Alan accepted it on behalf of all the members who will have the opportunity on Saturday 18 May to participate in the training session held by St. John s. Leanne went on to present the prizes to the Club Champions and winners and runners-up in all sections. We also had the very great pleasure of awarding our 25 year medallions to those very many people who have been such loyal and committed members to the club for 25 years of more. The Hudson and Melba Award winners also received their trophies generously donated by Harry & Audrey Hudson. Rosemary Varty was also there to present our Super Vets with their badges.! PAGE 1

5 ANZAC DAY - LEST WE FORGET With fine weather and 40 willing participants our bowlers participated in a 2 game tournament of 10 ends each. It worked out to be an even 10 teams of 4 playing on the top green on 5 rinks. The day was sponsored by Methven Real Estate The Professionals at Lilydale and RJB Developments. Many thanks for their continued support. The overall winners were Colin Tainton s team Bob Lerpiniere, Jan O Regan and Ethan Preston. An impressive performance winning with +19 in the first game and +8 in the second game - a total of +27 shots up. The tournaments are never complete without a raffle and many thanks to the Bugge family, Alan & Di Young, Glenis Ellis and Mario La Morticella who donated prizes. Thanks to the main organizers, Alan & Di Young and Bob Lerpiniere (someone had to chase team players). The bar staff are always reliable and John Clark and Alan Lamb were there to tend to the members needs. Others who helped were Eileen Lerpiniere, Isabella and Ethan Preston who were in the kitchen and prepared soup for after the first game and salad for the BBQ. Meanwhile David Morgan was manning the BBQ for a light meal after the second game. Finally Graeme Kenyon was around bright and early and did the bowls game cards draw. Thanks again. In summary it was a great day and fund raised amounted to $563 which have been donated to Legacy. Many thanks to all who participated. Gerard Credlin. WERRIBEE ZOO The day trip to the Zoo was thoroughly enjoyed by the people who participated. It was raining when we left Lilydale but after going over the west Gate Bridge the sun shone. We had morning tea at the Zoo followed by our Safari Trip and we saw many animals up close. Lunch was at an Italian Social Club in Werribee and the food was delicious. The trip was well organised by Lamb;e Tours with Herbie, our bus driver giving an informative commentary as we drove along. Karyn Edmonds.! PAGE 5
6 KARAOKE NIGHT This was a fun night but very poorly attended by LBC members. Thanks to the few who did come and got into the spirit of the night with their singing prowess on display - Nikko, Josh and Johnny, Luke and Tam - you will get a gig any night with voices like that. Many visitors attended on the night from the Bendigo Bank and from the club in The Basin where John Vaytauer sets up most Friday nights. We had some excellent singers in our midst and all thanks to John & Leanne for making it so much fun.. BOTTLE TOP TRIVIA THIS SATURDAY NIGHT 18 MAY Come along with a table of friends and try out your general knowledge with our bottle top Trivia questions. We have been saving these caps for ages just to test your ability and will ask you questions in panels of 8 per team. Only $5 per head, bring your own snacks, and thanks to Rowdy we now have some fabulous music for the CD stacker, so be there. WARBURTON TRADGE WOODS TOURNAMENT Lilydale came second in this tournament played on 21 April with +54 on the first game and +34 on the second losing to a team from Waverley with +54 and +42.
