1 LCS Meeting Thursday 26 th March reunion in the company of Peter Booth Barry Dudleston John Steele Roger Tolchard L to R. John Steel - Barry Dudleston Peter Booth Roger Tolchard Another different but very successful night for the LCS. Roger Stead had an idea he put to your committee last year. About organising a reunion of some of the players from that very successful season, the result was Thursday night s excellent meeting. Roger had done a lot of research into the season and with the help of his wife Rosemary, they put on a slideshow that gave the details from Lots of interest in getting the autographs of these four ex-players

3 Another very good turnout of members and visitors saw over 140 people at the meeting. That means that during the course of the winter well over 1000 people came along to hear another collection of varied speakers, who all proved to be entertaining in different ways. Another winning selection from the events secretary Roger Stead. Roger Stead who s hard work made the meeting a success. At this point, I hope you will all agree with me, on saying, congratulations to your committee for yet another very successful winter. As you can see everyone at the meeting was enjoying listening to anecdote s from the four.

4 I also wish to thank everyone for your continuous support of the raffle. Thursday night saw another 117 added to the funds. The final total for the amount of money you have donated by supporting the raffle, over the last winter is a staggering 940. A special thanks to Ken, Margaret, Glenys, Janice, Bob, Christine and Gordon, Margaret and Richard for helping to go round selling the tickets. And to all the members and everyone who brought along items for the raffle. Just a few of the items from last Thursday This is a photo produced by the FoGR, of that winning 1975 team. I had been given a copy for a prize. The FoGR had asked if I would sell another four copies. At the end of the evening John Steele asked if he could have a copy. The photo s proved that popular

5 Before the start of the meeting the four speakers chatting to County Chairman Paul Haywood. Player s shirts have proved a very popular raffle prize again this winter. This is one of the fleece lined ones ideal for the start of the season.

6 Our chairman Howard introduces the speakers by telling the audience that it s time to turn the clock back 40 years, to the first of three championship wins for Leicestershire CCC. Howard said that this first win was not of the eight teams as now, but when winning the County Championship meant beating 17 other 1 st class counties to take the title. Roger Tolchard.added that meant everybody. John on the left had come from Nottingham, Karl in the middle had come from Birmingham and David Goodacre on the right from Leicester, to get their various books and photo s signed by our four speakers, who are now rarely seen at so many county grounds. The speakers were very happy to sign.

7 The lads in cow corner gather for the last time this winter. They ve been on at me all winter that they never win the raffle but a little later on they got a surprise. No report would be complete without Peter s smile. Thanks to all the lads for being such good sports, they tell me, that they even read these so called reports. 10 Peter Booth, is very articulate, as you would expect from a teacher. Each time that one of the four remembered an anecdote the others expanded on the thought Roger Tolchard proved to be the one who remembered things that sparked the other three into chatting about that season

13 The other end of the room Graham a first time visitor to the LCS used to play cricket for Warwickshire. Mainly in the 2 s, he told the audience what it was like playing against these four Leicestershire men.

14 Nigel Walker gave the official vote of thanks Nigel travels all the way from Stamford for our meetings. We cast our nets far and wide Roger relieved that the night as gone so well

15 Finally I couldn t resist a photo of the CRICKET come fishing stool. But just before I go At last the lads in cow corner won on the raffle. Alan smiling and very happy with his new print, which he said was going to hang in his office.

We wish the new coach all the luck he can muster, and to our two overseas players, we hope that you bring that antipodean winning way with you.
