Bennett IB Elementary March 4, 2016 Bennett News From the Principal Happy March Bennett Families! The weather has been beautiful and it feels like Spring must be just around the corner (although I am told that we could be in for more snow still?). Regardless, I hope you are enjoying the warmth and sun as much as you can! Speaking of Spring, this is the time when we start planning for next year s classes. In keeping with our current policy, we will not be accepting parent requests for specific teachers. However, we would appreciate any input that you would like us to consider when making class placement decisions. The proper avenue for providing us with this input is using the parent input form which you can find on the Bennett website. Please use this method since it is the only way we can ensure that we have your feedback when we form classes. Hope you have a wonderful weekend and thank you again for all that you do! Notes from the BCO Happy March Broncos! March is a funky school month for us with Spring Break beginning on Monday the 14 th, which would normally be the date of our monthly BCO meeting. Since school won t be in session, the BCO meeting for March will take place on Monday, March 21 st at 7:00pm in the library. Hope to see many of you there! From the BCO Highlight: Check out the Bennett Facebook page at: www.facebook.com/ bennettftc. Even though we won t be meeting for a couple of weeks, your BCO is hard at work planning lots of cool spring activities for the Bennett Community. International Day is the morning of Friday, March 25 th. Mona Maser, our coordinator, is looking for people who are from or have lived in other countries to share their experiences with students in a series of four presentations from 8:30-11:45, with free lunch for all presenters to follow in the library. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact Mona at 970-690-4078 or monavv@hotmail.com. Spring means reading fun, and to help your kiddo keep up with all the latest and greatest literary adventures, we will be hosting the Spring Book Fair from Monday, March 28 th Friday, April 1 st, with setup happening the afternoon of Friday, March 25 th. As many of you know, we need LOTS of help to make this huge event a success, so if you are a registered volunteer, please look for the Sign Up genius before Spring Break and help us out. Thanks! Also, don t forget your BCO will be hosting a fundraising night with Larkburger (NW corner of Drake and College) TONIGHT, Thursday, March 3 rd. Larkburger will be giving a whopping 50% of all sales between 5:00 & 7:30pm back to Bennett for any family who comes in and presents their fundraising flyer or mentions Bennett when ordering. Flyers went home in last week s Thursday folders, we have extras in the Front Office, and the flyer is also attached to the Newsletter e-mail today. Please help us raise money for Bennett while enjoying super tasty burgers, crispy fires, delicious salads, and real ice cream milkshakes and malts. What could be better? Last but not least, there is a parent of a 5 th grader who lives on Laporte & Shields and needs carpooling help on Mondays & Wednesday until the end of the year. If you live in the vicinity and think you could help, please e-mail Liz Telling at liztelling@hotmail.com. Thanks for all you do Bennett and for making this school such a warm, supportive place for our kids to learn and grow! Have a great weekend! Kat Reeves Getting Springy With It, BCO 2

Tdap All incoming 6th graders (current 5th graders) will need to get a Tdap vaccination. Students who get their shot before May 27 can bring the record to Bennett and we will update the information making your student current on his/her vaccinations. Students who receive the shot after May 27 will need to take their records to the Middle School they will be attending. If you have any questions please call the office. Extra Clothing If your child has borrowed clothing over the past year from the Health Office, please return it to the school ASAP. We no longer have an extra supply of extra pants to offer students when accidents occur.
