CLASS H HORSES, A liablity waiver must be signed by a parent or legal guardian before an exhibitor may compete. Waivers will be available at check-in. Any animal exhibited must be owned or leased by the exhibitor. An animal may be jointly owned with members of the exhibitor s immediate family. In the case of illness or death of the animal a substitute will be permitted upon approval of the superintendent. Each animal must be entered and shown by only one exhibitor. Each animal may show only once in each class. Each animal shown must be two years old by May 1, current year. No stallions or jacks are allowed. All entries must be in the proper class or they will be disqualified. Junior Division: 8 to 13 years old as of Sept. 1. Senior Division: 14 years old as of Sept. 1. An exhibitor may show up to two animals per show. Example: 2 ponies, 2 horses or 2 mules or a combination of horse,pony or mule. See Horse entry form for a list of two animal classes. An exhibitor may enter 2 same sex animals in the appropriate halter classes. Another exhibitor may show the second animal. Dress requirements are as follows: HALTER AND PERFORMANCE EVENTS; Western style long pants, western style long sleeved shirt, western hat, western boots with a heel.a coat, vest, jacket, gloves, chaps and spurs are optional, chaps and spurs are prohibited in halter and showmanship classes. Approved riding helmet required for all Exhibitors in all mounted classes. SPEED EVENTS: Long pants, collared short sleeved shirt (no sleeveless or Tshirts will be allowed), and western boots with a heel. No hats or caps may be worn. All rules and patterns will be posted the day of the show. Assigned exhibitor numbers must be displayed appropriately in every class. An exhibitor s carriage of free hand is optional. However, it may not touch tack or the animal in pleasure classes. Bits must be appropriate for age of animal. Animals age 5 and under may be shown in a hackamore or snaffle. Animals 6 years or older must be shown in a bit (with shanks) in all performance classes. All exhibitors must display sportsmanship throughout the show. Cruelty to or rough handling of an animal will result in disqualification. This includes whipping or hitting in front of the saddle. For safety purposes, horses will be required to walk into and out of the arena. Any exhibitor running through the gate will be automatically disqualified. Once inside the arena, the horse and rider may circle once before beginning a run. Exhibitor number must be worn on the backside of exhibitor or attached to each side of saddle pad or tack. Except for in-hand classes one number shall be worn on the exhibitor s back. Superintendents may dismiss any horse and/or exhibitor that they deem too dangerous. State Law for all equine participating is an advertised event required a current negative Coggins test. Patterns for Showmanship, Horsemanship and Trail may be obtained prior to the show. WILL BE SHOWN WITH CLASS A BEEF An emergency regulation has been approved by the Advisory Board of livestock commissioners, which eliminates all tuberculin testing requirements for cattle being exhibited in Illinois that originate from a Bovine Tuberculosis Accredited - Free State. Since Illinois is a Bovine Tuberculosis Accredited - Free State, this means that Illinois cattle may be exhibited in Illinois shows without tuberculin tests. No tuberculin test is required for steers and females in market classes provided they are not co-mingled with breeding animals being exhibited. Brucellosis - See page 12 for animal health rules CLASS H BEEF RULES 1. A baby beef is a steer calved in the calendar year of prior year. In case there is a question as to the age eligibility of a steer, age shall be determined by a grievance committee. Over-aged animals shall be disqualified. 2.
