FOR SALE CASTLEWELLAN REGATTA EQUIPMENT: Wire ropes, Buoys, Huts, Pontoons and miscellaneous items. Queens Regatta was held at Castlewellan, Co Down, Northern Ireland from 1974 to 2016 and in this period developed from three lanes to six. From 1997 a rowing course of six, 1500m lanes fully buoyed, was installed annually for two weeks in April/May to facilitate Queens Regatta and in some years the University Championship of Ireland. All equipment was removed after each regatta and stored in the dry. The regatta is no longer organised and hence the disposal of the equipment. The Course The course consists of seven full length galvanised wire ropes anchored at the west and east ends of Castlewellan lake, a distance of 1610m: see attached map, page 3. The two outside lines are 5mm diameter wires supported by 10inch buoys located at 20m intervals. The five intermediate lines are 1500m long wires of 3mm diameter with approximately 30m tail ends of 4mm diameter wire. The intermediate wires are generally supported by 7inch buoys with some 10inch buoys at 100m marker points. An eighth wire line was installed to define a warm up area; this wire is 1360m long and is of 4mm diameter supported generally by 7inch buoys. All the buoys have 1.5m tails to attach to the wires (using disposable plastic cable ties). All fixing points on the wire are permanent and at 20m intervals except for the first 100m where the interval is 10m. Items for Disposal 1.
