Make a DIFFERENCE today!

On December 13, 2007, NIU introduced I-AA National Coach of the Year Jerry Kill as head football coach. Kill brings a remarkable ledger of success to Huskie football, with a 104-57 career record as a head coach over 14 seasons. Four-year broadcast agreement with Chicago sports radio power WSCR-AM 670 (The Score). For five consecutive semesters, Huskie student-athletes have posted an overall 3.0 or better cumulative GPA. NIU s first athletic facility built with private donations opened in August 2007 when the 62,000 square-foot, $14 million Jeffrey and Kimberly Yordon Academic and Athletic Performance Center became the anchor of Huskie Stadium. Multi-year partnerships with adidas, Gatorade, Comcast Sportsnet and a five-year agreement with CSTV as the official website provider for NIU athletics. Over the past three seasons, 32 of NIU s 37 football contests have been on live national or regional television. Football scheduling agreements have been secured with prominent opponents, including home games with Navy (08) and Wisconsin (09). Successfully hosted the 2007 NCAA Men s Golf Central Regional at Rich Harvest Farms. CHAMPS/Life Skills 100 percent participation by NIU s 467 student- athletes, including over 8,000 total hours of community service. Associate Vice-President / Director of Athletics Dr. Jim Phillips continues to represent NIU on a national stage, as he has been appointed to three of the most prestigious committees for Division I Directors of Athletics: the NCAA Division I Women s Basketball Committee, the Division I-A Athletics Directors Executive Committee and the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) Executive Committee.

Reasons to Give Every gift no matter the size makes a difference. Many foundations and businesses decide to support NIU Athletics based on the number of parents, alumni and friends that make a gift each year. Mission Statement The mission of the HASF is to effectively build and sustain quality relationships with all friends and constituents of Northern Illinois University Athletics, which in turn will provide the resources necessary for Huskie student-athletes to achieve a world class experience: academically, socially, and athletically. I believe in the value of education. I want to help provide a world-class experience for a student-athlete by acting now. I ve thought about it all year. Thanks for asking again. I care about Northern Illinois University. NIU Athletics has changed over the years, but so have I. Both for the better! I know I need to do my part. I can t assume someone else will do it. I need a tax deduction for 2008. www.niuhuskies.com

Loyalty Points The Loyalty Point System was implemented in 2007 to reward those who have been loyal supporters of NIU Athletics through annual giving and season ticket purchases. Loyalty Points allow our staff to fairly distribute Premier Club seats, away game football, bowl, and post-season NCAA ticket opportunities. HASF members earn Loyalty Points based on their past support of Huskie Athletics, as well as their season tickets and contributions for the current year. Loyalty points are only active for current HASF members. Three (3) points for each $100 contributed to the HASF during the current year. One (1) point for each lifetime $100 contribution to the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund. One (1) point for each football season ticket held for three consecutive seasons. One (1) point for each basketball season ticket held for three consecutive seasons. One (1) point for each $100 committed to an athletic capital building project or scholarship endowment gift of more than or equal to $25,000. Premier Club Seating Premier Club seats provide our most loyal fans with the best location in the stadium as well as a spacious and more comfortable seat. Members of the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund have exclusive rights to the Premier Club. The Premier Club has three areas: The Skybox, the Chairback Section and the Benchback Section. Skybox seats are currently sold out. However, you may put your name on a waiting list by calling the HASF office at 815-753-1923. Skybox tickets are $1,000 per seat and include indoor seating. There are minimum donation levels associated with the Chairback section: 2 seats $125 8 seats $500 4 seats $250 16 seats $1,000 The Benchback section only requires that you are a member of the HASF. In addition to your donation that directly benefits Huskie student-athletes, The Best Seats in the House require the following premium charges per seat: Chairback $90 Benchback $50 Therefore, to purchase four (4) Chairback seats, you would need to be a member of the HASF at the $250 level, pay $360 ($90 per seat) premium charge, and purchase your season tickets. www.niuhuskies.com

Football Benefits Parking/Tailgating Tailgating has truly become a fixture during every home football game at Huskie Stadium. Exclusive for HASF members, grills start to heat up five hours prior to kickoff and the best tailgating locations are only available to HASF members. Beginning with the Spirit level, HASF members who are season ticket holders are eligible to purchase a 2008 season parking pass for football for an additional $20. Cardinal and Black, Huskie Circle, Huskie Pride, and Victory levels receive an upgraded VIP parking pass which grants access to lots closer to the stadium. A map of the parking lots is below. Hospitality Tent Huskie Circle level members and above who are also football season ticket holders receive invitations to the Hospitality Tent prior to each Huskie home football game. The tent includes complimentary food and beverages, begins two and a half hours prior to kickoff, and closes 30 minutes before the game begins. Basketball Benefits Reserved HASF Parking Lot C1, located adjacent to the Convocation Center, is reserved on basketball game days for HASF Spirit level and above members who are basketball season ticket holders and who have purchased a season pass for $20. This lot affords you close proximity to the Convocation Center and avoids traffic and congestion in the other lots close to the Convo. Sixth Man Grille One hour prior to and at halftime of each home men s and women s basketball game, the Sixth Man Grille is open for HASF Cardinal and Black and above level members who are basketball season ticket holders. Snacks and beverages are available. Chalk Talks During men s and women s home basketball games throughout the season, the coaching staff will provide a pre-game chalk talk and review that night s scouting report for interested HASF members at the Cardinal and Black level and above. Much of what I am today is because of my NIU experience and education, and my concern is that of someone who loves this school. Most awards received in our lifetime will gather dust after we leave. The real reward is the legacy of influence we have had on the lives of others. George Nahas ( 59) Leadership Donor HASF Wheels of Support Member

Other Ways You Can Make a Difference Passionately and positively promote the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund to friends and colleagues. Host an event (of any size) at your home, office, or club that will help generate new members and expand interest in the HASF. Become a volunteer. Help the HASF staff call and say thank you to current members and contact alumni to let them know how they can join. Attend as many HASF events as possible. Share 5-10 names with the HASF office of friends and colleagues you think would be interested in receiving information on the HASF. There are many philanthropic opportunities within the framework of the HASF that you can explore. For example, sponsor a student-athlete dinner at the Director of Athletics home, apply for a matching gift through your employer, include the HASF in your estate plan, and create a challenge program for others. The HASF is always open to exploring new, creative ideas. Continue your annual cash support of the HASF while being open to expanding your involvement. With increased support to each of our 17 sport programs and the student-athletes they serve, there are several stories that reflect the commitment of our talented young men and women to their responsibility as a student first and athlete second. One shining example of this unique paradigm involves men s soccer player Danny Lopez. Just prior to the 2007 Mid-American Conference Men s Soccer Championship at the University of Akron, Danny, a sophomore defender, faced a unique challenge to balance his academic and athletic commitments. He had mandatory class attendance in a kinesiology class essential to his degree progress on the same day that the men s soccer team was traveling to participate in the MAC tournament semi-finals. Knowing the men s soccer competition schedule, the professor assumed Danny would miss class time. When Danny showed up, earning him a final high mark in the class, the professor was extremely complimentary of his commitment to academic endeavors. Thanks to increased resources from the Huskie Athletic Scholarship Fund, Danny flew to Akron later that afternoon and met up with the team so he could compete in the conference championship. The fact is our student-athletes want to achieve championships and high academic marks. Through the HASF, Danny was able to keep his commitments both academically and athletically during a very important time of the semester and season. The HASF gave us the vital funds to have a win-win situation. Thank you! Steve Simmons Men s Soccer Coach Ask before you act!
