The Aztecs (9-8) will meet Brigham Young at 7 p.m. Thursday at SDSU Softball Stadium, before the rest of the tournament heads to the three-field Sportsplex USA in nearby Santee, Calif. In Santee, SDSU will meet Fresno State (4:30 p.m. PT) and Charlotte (7 p.m. PT) on Friday, Saint Joseph s (1:45 p.m. PT) and Nevada (4:15 p.m. PT) on Saturday and Long Beach State (11:30 a.m. PT) on Sunday. The other four teams in the tourney are Cal Poly, Cal State Northridge, San Diego and Utah State. The Aztec offense has homered 21 times in 17 games this season, which is already tied for the fourth most in a season in program history and more than four of the program s seven NCAA tournament teams (2001-12, 2003-12, 2008-14, 2009-12). Sophomore Hayley Miles leads SDSU in numerous categories, including batting average (.375), at-bats (56), runs (18), hits (21), doubles (7), total bases (43), walks (7) and on-base percentage (.438). Classmate Lorena Klopp, meanwhile, has team highs of six home runs and 16 RBIs. Redshirt junior Rebecca Arbino (2-3, 1.39 ERA, 40.1 IP) and senior Bailey Micetich (5-2, 2.10 ERA, 53.1 IP) lead a pitching staff that has combined for two shutouts and 104 strikeouts in 117 1/3 innings. l l l l l l l KATHY VAN WYK HEAD COACH 16TH SEASON CS FULLERTON, 1983 As a player, Van Wyk earned All-America honors and won the Broderick Award, given to the best player in the nation, in 1981 after going 35-1 with a 0.18 ERA. The victories remain a school single-season record and.972 winning percentage was an NCAA Division I record until 2001. Her phenomenal season included four no-hitters, six one-hitters, back-to-back perfect games, 26 shutouts and 270 strikeouts. Is the school s all-time winningest coach with 518 career victories, including a program-best 44 wins in 2008 Earned her third Mountain West Conference Coach of the Year award in 2008 after leading the Aztecs to a 15-5 mark in league play. She also won the award in 2002 and 2006. Has led SDSU to seven NCAA tournament appearances (2001, 2003, 2006, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011) Guided San Diego State to its fourth MWC regular season title in 2008 with a 15-5 record. The team s other championships came in 2002, 2003 and 2006. Coached her fourth All-American in 2011 in Bailey Micetich. Micetich was an Easton Third-Team All- American.
