Introduction This is your guide for children and parents regarding out of hours, school team sports offered in Winter for Years 2 to 7 at Glenelg Primary School. Winter Sports Winter sports are played during Terms 2 and 3. This means that if you play football, you must be prepared to play football in both Term 2 and Term 3. If your child chooses to pull out in Term 3 there will be no refund. Winter Sports played during Terms 2 and 3 are: Basketball, Football, Netball, Soccer (and Indoor Volleyball 6/7 only) The attached schedule details age requirements, team size, when and where they play etc. Trainings are decided by the coach once teams are established. Co-Ordinators, Coaches and Team Managers We Need You!! Please give some thought to the support role you may be able to take on a full time or shared basis as all sports will be required to have one of each to go ahead. If you are considering a role of coach/manager you will receive a folder with players names and contacts before the commencement of the season. If a volunteer coach/manager is not found by the beginning of the season, the team will unfortunately be withdrawn. As a coach you will be well supported and informed, offered coaching clinics etc along the way. PLEASE NOTE IT IS NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE SCHOOL TO PROVIDE A COACH

Coaches/managers/volunteers will also require a police clearance check as per Dept. of Education policy. Forms are available from the Front Office and the check is paid for by the School. Winter Sports Registration - Due Date - Monday 6th March 2017. Nomination Forms must be submitted with payment to the Front Office by the above date to establish teams as games commence very early in Week 1 or 2 of Term 2. If you require an extension for payment of any sport please speak to Colleen Wortmeyer in the front office. Late Registrations Children who submit late registrations will only be included in a team if a vacancy exists. Where there are too many children registering for a sport and limited coaches, children will be accepted on a first come, first served basis. Uniform All children representing the school in sport are expected to wear a Glenelg sports top, with the exception of volleyball. Sports tops are available for purchase from the Uniform Shop. (Football guernseys are provided by the school.) Code of Conduct All students/managers/coaches/coordinators must fill out a Code of Conduct form and are expected to abide by the DECD Sport Policy.
