UGA Admissions Information If you are a high school senior or transfer student, have you been formally accepted to UGA? If yes, you MUST include a copy of your official acceptance letter with this application. If not, the highest position you can try out for is alternate status. Please check the statement below that applies to you: YES! I have been accepted to UGA. Enclosed you will find my official letter of acceptance. NO! I have not yet been accepted to UGA, and I will be trying out for alternate status. When you tryout for alternate status, it means just that. If you are accepted to UGA after tryouts this DOES NOT mean that you will automatically be added to the team. I CERTIFY THAT I MEET ALL OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS: 1. I am a full time student at the University of Georgia, or I have provided with this application a copy of my formal acceptance letter to the University of Georgia. (if you have not received your official acceptance letter by the time of tryouts, the highest position you may tryout for is alternate status). 2. I have included with this application proof of a recent physical that is within 1 calendar year of the tryout date any sports physical will suffice. 3. I have included with this application a copy of BOTH sides of my medical insurance card. 4. As an incoming freshman, transfer student, or not being a current member of the program, I have included a cover letter/letter of intent, letter of recommendation from my current coach/teacher (only incoming freshmen), a 4x6 head to toe color picture, a 4x6 color headshot picture, and a resume of dance accomplishments. 5. I have no health or physical defects that would hinder my ability to perform as a Dance Dawg which may cause these activities to be unsafe to my health. 6. 2015 UGA dance dawg Tryout Checklist Please make sure when you send in your application for tryouts that you check off the following items to ensure your registration it is completed.! Cover Letter/Letter of Intent (only if you are an incoming freshman, transfer student, or not a current member of the program)! Tryout Application (pages 1-3 of this packet)! Official Acceptance Letter to UGA (if applicable)! Letter of Recommendation From You Current Coach/Teacher (only if you are an incoming freshman) Have your coach/teacher put this into a sealed envelope and include it with your packet that you mail in.! Resume of Dance and Non-Dance Related Accomplishments (only if you are an incoming freshman, transfer student, or not a current member of the program)! GEORGIA DANCE DAWGS 2015 2016 Dance Dawg General Information Background: A tradition of excellence defines the Dance Dawgs program at the University of Georgia. A talented group of 12 18 ladies dance and cheer the Dawgs on to victory, performing at all athletic events which include: home Men s and Women s basketball games, assigned basketball tournaments, home gymnastics meets, volleyball meets, soccer games and other UGA athletic events, as assigned, as well as making appearances at events throughout the community. Being a member of such a distinguished program is both mentally and physically demanding and our dancers are held to a high level of academic and dance excellence. Practice Schedule: Our season begins in the fall, we will start with 3 summer practices and 2- a- Days in August. Members are required to attend all dance practices (which Monday and Thursday nights, 7:00 9:30 PM) as well as all strength and conditioning sessions (which take place Tuesday and Thursday). Additional practices are scheduled, as necessary. The season runs from September through March. General Information: Each member of the Dance Dawgs program is required to sign and abide by the UGA Dance Dawgs Performance Standards Contract. Currently, each member of the program is eligible to receive a $300 stipend, which is awarded at the end of the academic school year, after grades have been confirmed (members must maintain a 2.50 UGA GPA to be active in the program and to be eligible for stipends). The University provides all practice and performance apparel and there are no out- of- pocket expenses for members. The Dance Dawgs are official UGA letterman at the University of Georgia. GEORGIA DANCE DAWGS 2015 2016 Dance Dawg Audition Information Date: Saturday, April 18 th, and Sunday, April 19th, 2015 Time: Saturday, 9:00 AM 12:00 PM, lunch break, 1:30 PM until dismissed Sunday, 9:00 AM 2:00 PM. You should plan to bring snacks and drinks with you for final auditions. Location: Stegeman Coliseum Dance Dawg Audition Requirements: o Fight song (we choreograph) o 60 second dance routine (we choreograph) o Two band dances/fillers (we choreograph) o Double and triple pirouette turns o Fouettes into double pirouette turn o Straddle toe touch o Front and side leaps o Formal Interview Additional Information: o Please bring the following items with you to auditions. You will not be permitted to participate in any activities without the below items: " Completed application form (download from website) " Proof of a physical, signed by a physician, clearing you for participation in the audition process (must be dated within one calendar year of the audition date any sports physical will suffice) " Medical Insurance Information (a copy of the front and back of your medical insurance card) " Non- refundable $50 application fee (cash or check only, made payable to UGAA) o Please meet at Stegeman Coliseum on the first day of auditions starting promptly at 9:00 AM Preferred Audition Attire: o Fitted crop/bra top with dance/jazz pants or shorts and dance/jazz shoes. Appearance for both days of auditions should be collegiate in nature o No garments are to be tied around the waist area o Business attire is recommended for the formal interview on Sunday.

What Happens at Auditions? o o Day 1 (Saturday) # You will check in at 8:30 AM and present all of the above requested information. YOU MAY NOT STEP OUT ONTO THE FLOOR WITHOUT PROOF OF A CURRENT PHYSICAL, SIGNED BY A PHYSICIAN, CLEARING YOU FOR PARTICIPATION IN THE AUDITION PROCESS! A sports physical form from any physician will be sufficient. # You will be issued a number, at random. # You will learn the required material (fight song, 60 second dance routine and two short band dances/fillers). These routines will be fast- paced and will include sharp, deliberate movements along with leaps and turns. Several judges will be walking around throughout the day watching to see how quickly each dancer learns, as well as which dancers have perfected the combinations. # The judges will display a call back list for dancers who have made the first cut. Day 2 (Saturday) # Starting at 9:00 AM we will begin the final auditions. Each participant will come out in groups of two to perform all required material in front of a panel of judges. This includes the fight song, the two short band dances, the 60 second dance piece, leaps, jumps and turns. # After performing for the judges, you will return to the waiting area. You may be called for call backs. # When the judging is complete, dancers will be dismissed and names will be posted within 2 hours of the completion of auditions. *Please note that this is the only audition time.
