SPRING OPEN HOUSE May 17, 2016 5:30 PM to 7:00 PM Please invite friends and family interested in a Catholic School education to this special spring open house. Our focus will be on Grades 5 to 7. SAVE THE DATE: We will be celebrating Sr. Angelus 90 th birthday and 50 years dedicated to St. Peter School and Parish on Thursday, May 26 th. Anyone interested in assisting in planning this celebration please contact Mrs. Robinson. Alumni are encouraged to join us!! RICE BOWL: The fourth week of our Rice Bowl collection brought in a total of $304.94. Kindergarten came in third place; Grade Eight came in second place and Grade Six came in first place!! Great job, Grade 6! Thank you for your hard work and sacrifice! We have helped a great many people with our contributions. DAMHSA: Once again, we would like to thank Mrs. Kenyon and her friend Mrs. Conley, coowners of Damhsa, for beginning their very busy St. Patrick s Day by staging an amazing performance for us at St. Peter School. All of the dancers were marvelous, of course! Many videos have been posted to the St. Peter Facebook page. BLUEBIRDS FLY: Bluebirds Fly is a documentary film addressing Autism in its many forms. This film will be shown at Rhode Island College on April 19 th at 6:30 PM and will be followed by a question and answer period. If you have a loved one or know of someone who has autism, please pass the information along. Complete details can be found on the flyer enclosed in this week s Friday Folder and e-folder. SEASONS OF NEW ENGLAND: You know it is spring when Seasons of New England open up with beautiful lilies, tulips daffodils and hydrangeas for Easter! Enclosed in last week s Friday Folder and e-folder was a flyer for 10% off spring flowers with a purchase of $50.00. Seasons of New England is located at 479 Warwick Avenue. CLASS BASKETS: Another sign of spring is our annual Pasta Dinner and raffle. Once again, we ask for donations for our themed class baskets that will be raffled on April 9 th at the Pasta Dinner. Each class has a particular theme. Please consult the flyer enclosed in this week s Friday Folder and also available in the e-folder. Please bring in items to school before April 7 th. Once again, we thank you for your generosity. FAMILY SCIENCE NIGHT: Please save the date for our very first Family Science Night May 4th from 6:00-7:30. Mrs. Unger will need some help to make this night a success.
If you are interested in participating but weren t able to attend the planning meeting, please email Mrs. Unger: mrsungerscience@gmail.com. SUMMER SOLUTIONS: In order not to lose skills acquired during the school year, it is imperative that all students work in their math and reading/language arts Summer Solution books throughout the summer. They should try to work daily, however, not for long periods of time unless they really love challenging themselves! Twenty minutes to a half hour most every day should be more than enough. Please consult the flyer that was sent home a few weeks ago which explains how to order Summer Solution books for this upcoming summer. The flyer is also located on the website. If you order by May 10 th, you will be entered in a drawing for one of three ipad minis! ST. PETER SCHOOL WEBSITE: There have been some changes and updates made to the website. I am told that you have to refresh the website page in order for you to see the changes. HEART ASSOCIATION HEALTHY EATING EVENT: The American Heart Association and Blue Cross Blue Shield of RI are co-hosting this free event to inspire and educate families to live healthier, happier lives. Family Cooking Workshop with JWU Culinary Sunday, April 3 rd Registration is required and space is limited to 40 people.
