We Need Your Help! Dawn Miller has graciously volunteered to run the race on Sunday, but is in need of additional assistance. No experience is necessary-just your willingness to help and have fun! JOIN US!... FOR THE FOURTH ANNUAL CLASSIC WOODEN SAILBOAT RENDEZVOUS & RACE Your time will be needed between 10:30 and 4:30 at Trident Point (Naval Academy). Contact Dawn at: dawnpaulmiller@comcast.net if you can help! The Classic R&R has hosted boats from 8 to 60 feet in length, and is open to any wooden-hulled boat in that range designed before 1970 (even a newer wooden boat from an old design is eligible). Wooden sailboats, including: Penguins, Thistles, Jet 14s, Stars, Lightnings, Beetle Cats, Windmills, Chesapeake 20s, Scow, Hamptons, Moths, Snipes, Comets, even wooden dories and prams like Optis, El Toros and Sneakboxes can all join in and sail alongside classic yachts, including the sandbaggers BULL and BEAR and larger classic yachts like WINDALIER and ELF. A pursuit start and a Portsmouth Yardstick handicapping system modified for classic boats will keep everything even, so your wooden Opti has a chance of winning! Thanks in advance for your consideration! Old Salt Race Results HONALEE, HORNPIPE and LACERTA braved the shifting winds to participate in this year s OSR. The wind varied from 2 to 7 knots and came out of the west, then the south, the east, then west, then north and finally died. But it didn t die before HONALEE and LACERTA crossed the finish line! The two boats rate the same, so HONALEE won. I am looking forward to how HONALEE goes against LACERTA in a breeze. When we were beating in light air, HONALEE was clearly faster. Running in moderate breeze, LACERTA was quicker. Maybe we ll get our chance this weekend at the CTSA/ NSHOF Rendezvous & Race?! Cheers, Paul! PAGE 2
