All Agricultural Divisions are subject to the Tennessee State Fair Rules, located on page 10, Department and Division Rules. 2. An entry fee will be charged per class, unless indicated in Division. 3. Pre-registraon is MOST important to avoid a long wait during check-in. Non-registered entries will be accepted during the check-in mes set by each Division. Individuals must register with the Tennessee State Fair to be eligible for award money. Entries will not be accepted before or a5er receiving dates. See Below. To be eligible for premiums, all exhibits must be in place before the official judging. 4. Exhibits must be the exhibitor s own farming program and that crop exhibits are of the current year s growth. All crop entries winning a prize are at the disposal of the director of the department, for educaonal purposes. 5. Ribbons will be given only to the first three winners. Monetary awards are listed within division informaon. 6. No exhibits will be released prior to the close of the Fair. Entries will be released for pick on Monday between 8 a.m. unl 12 p.m. a5er the close of the Fair, no excepons. ALL entries must be out by posted me or entries become property of the Tennessee State Fair Associaon. If any entry is removed before the end of the fair, the premium money and ribbon will be forfeited. 7. Premiums will be issued as soon as possible a5er the conclusion of the fair. Tennessee Country Ham Division 284 Chairman: UT/TSU Extension Bob Ary, Larry Moorehead & Rob Augusn Check-in : Thurs., Sept. 6th, 9 a.m. 11 a.m Premiums:1st-$30; 2nd-$25; 3rd-$20; 4th-$18; 5th-$16; 6th-$12; 7th-10th-$10 RULES 1. Only residents of Tennessee are eligible to make entries and only hams cured and aged in Tennessee are eligible for entry. 2. Hams must be entered and exhibited in name of owner. All hams entered must have been cured on the premises of the owner, except for entries in Class 6 (Youth) 3. Entries in Class 6 (Youth) are limited to 4-H and FFA members that have parcipated in and sasfactorily completed an educa- onal program on cuong of meat, including the curing of their country ham entry, within the previous twelve months. The winner in this Class will be considered for overall Champion Ham (Packing house trim). Parcipaon must be verified by an Extension Agent or FFA Advisor. 4. To be eligible for compeon, hams must weigh at least 12 pounds. Hams must have shanks cut below or at the hock. 5. All hams, except the two Grand Champions, will be returned to the respec2ve owners upon presenta2on of receipt issued at the 2me of entry. Or, any other person may pick up hams for any number of exhibitors by presen2ng appropriate receipts issued at the 2me of entry. 6. A ham breakfast will be held as a fund raising ac2vity for FFA programs and as a public rela2ons effort for the Tennessee State Fair. The two Grand Champion Hams will be auc2oned off at the breakfast on Monday, September 10th at 7:30 a.m- 8:30 a.m., located in the Sports Arena. The winners will be invited and recognized at the event. 7. All hams entered in show must be sound and free of any insects or spoilage. Any hams disqualified by receiving commi?ee will be turned down and sent home. 8. Since these hams are for show, they must also be clean and eye appealing. 9. All reasonable care will be exercised to protect hams from insect infestaon. 10. Any violaon of the above rules will forfeit premium money or any other compensaon. 11. All exhibitors agree that the use of his/her name and or photograph may be used for promoonal purposes without further compensaon. 6. All exhibits not claimed will become the property of the Tennessee State Fair Associaon. Weigh Off Rules 1. Specimens must have been grown and cared for by the exhibitor. 2. Exhibitor (Grower) must be present the day of weigh-off 3. Individuals may have one entry per class. A family may have a total of two entries per class. 4. Pumpkin Color: All fruit, not solid green or gray, will be judged as a pumpkin. 5. Watermelon requirements - any variety or shape. 6. Specimens must be sound, healthy and undamaged. Entries must be free of rot, holes/cracks through to the cavity, chemical residue and serious so5 spots. Entries that are deemed unsound at the weigh-off by the Chairman or his designated officials may not be accepted as entries in the Fair. 7. No foreign material is permi?ed to be included in the weighing. Vines must be trimmed to one inch from the stem of the fruit. The judges reserve the right to fully inspect each specimen before the weigh-off begins and before the weight is announced and becomes official. 8. Quality Forage Division 289 Chairman: UT/TSU Extension Kimberly Hall & TAAA&S Central Region Check-in: Thurs., Sept. 6th, 9 a.m. 12 p.m. Premiums: 1st-$28; 2nd-$25; 3rd-$22; 4th-$18; 5th-$14 Entry Fees have been waived to exhibitors and paid by a Sponsorship. Rules: 1. Entries must be produced by exhibitor. 2. All entries must be in farmer s name or farm name. 3. One (1) entry per farm per class will be entered. 4. Entries must be composed of forage which has been cut, cured, baled with standard hay bailing equipment, and stored in a barn. Entry to consist of 9-12 block of hay from a small square bale. Entries must be ed with two (2) strings which run parallel in the same direcon. Or, entries form a round bale should consist of a standard 13 gallon trash bag filled with hay from one round bale. 5. Quesonable entries or those which do not conform to contest rules will be disqualified. 6. Entries will be received from 9:00 am. to 12:00 p.m. at the Agricultural Building on Thursday prior to opening day of the Fair. NO ENTRIES WILL BE ACCEPTED AFTER 12:00 NOON. The management will receive entries brought in by the exhibitor/agent or sent prepaid by mail or express, marked A?enon: Tennessee State Fair Forage Show 625 Smith Ave Suite 200, Nashville, TN 37203, and see that such entries are properly displayed.
