Heart Week is an initiative of the National Heart Foundation to promote heart health and physical activity. Council has partnered with the health and wellbeing sector to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining a healthy lifestyle during Heart Week from 29 April to 5 May. Travelsmart Sunday Social Ride Sunday 29 April, 9 11 am Mooloolaba, Charles Clark Park Bring your mountain bike or hybrid bike and join in the Heart Week Sunday Social Ride on 29 April 2018. To register for the ride head to council s website Wishlist Fun Run Sunday 22 April, Lake Kawana Walk, run, skip or jump to raise funds to support Sunshine Coast patients and their families. Join in the 10 and 5 km lakefront track or kids obstacle course. Stockland Heart Foundation Walk and Morning Tea Sunday 29 April leaving at 9am Stockland Oceanside Car park, corner of Lake Kawana and Birtinya Boulevards Come along and join in a flat walk with the Sunshine Coast Heart Foundation walkers from various groups across the coast. Walk around the new hospital precinct and the beautiful surrounds of Lake Kawana. Following the walk, relax and socialise with a free morning tea and health check. My health for life My health for life is a free program designed to help Queenslanders who are at high risk of chronic disease get their health back on track. Program fast facts: The program is free and delivered by qualified health professionals in local areas It involves six sessions over six months the time commitment required is not big The first session is a personalised one-on-one appointment The remaining sessions are flexible, offering the choice of phone coaching or small groups Who can take part: People aged 45 years and over who have been identified by a health professional as being at high risk of chronic disease (which includes type 2 diabetes, heart disease and stroke) People aged 18 years and over who are of Aboriginal and Torres Strait descent who are at high risk of chronic disease People aged 18 years and over with pre-existing conditions (E.g. previous history of gestational diabetes or have been diagnosed with high blood pressure or high cholesterol) Find out more: myhealthforlife.com.au or 13RISK (13 7475)
