Galileo Weekly Newsletter December 18, 2016 Dear Galileo Families, This week was amazing! We had so much fun with special events like the Parent Empowerment Workshop, Exhibition Night Thursday and Friday night s Holiday Show. The holiday spirit is in full swing and it is especially delightful to be at Galileo. I always feel so lucky to be a part of such an incredible school and amazing community of supporters. Thank you for all you do to support your child, their class and teacher, and the Galileo Community. Wishing all of you a wonderful holiday and fantastic break with your family. THIS WEEK!!! Early Release Schedule begins Monday: Please note the following early dismissal times for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday Decelmber 19th - 21st. 1:00 p.m. K-2 1:10 p.m. 3-5 1:20 p.m. Middle School MIDDLE SCHOOL PLAY - TUESDAY, DEC 20th @ 9:00 a.m. (time changed)

Galileo Middle School Drama Enthusiasts have put together an awesome play The Mixed up Mystery at Mountain View Lodge. The play will begin at 9:00 a.m. in the Galileo Cafeteria on Tuesday, December 20th. Parents of actors and actresses may attend the production. Unfortunately, an evening production will no longer be performed due to student scheduling conflicts. Please note the change! PLEASE NOTE There will be no Art Club, FFEA, or Robotics this week. They will resume in January! Important Reminders Please note the following procedures and systems which help Galileo run smoothly and safely for all kids and families: Refrain from using your cellphone in carline. Please do not arrive early for afternoon pickup. Zone 1: 3:20 p.m., Zone 2: 3:30 p.m., and Zone 3: 3:40 p.m. We have had some near fender benders from folks parking in carline. Please share with family and friends that pickup for you. If you are running late...call in your child s lunch order before 8:45 a.m. so we can order for you and walk your kiddo into the front office to sign them in when you arrive.

If you need a few extra carline tags for family and friends, please email Kristin.Ripley@galileogiftedschool.org They are $1 for a beautiful laminated tag:). ELEMENTARY FLAG FOOTBALL Is your child interested in playing Flag Football? Galileo will once again offer a competitive Flag Football program in partnership with the YMCA for those students in grades two - five that are interested in participating. The teams will be comprised of boys and girls. Coach Howard and Coach Bravo will hold tryouts on January 10, 2017 right after school. All program information and costs are listed in the attachment to the newsletter. If your child is interested in trying out, please submit the Registration Form only to Coach Howard by December 20th. Please do not make any payments to anyone until tryouts have occurred and your child makes the team. If you have any questions, please email Mike.Howard@galileogiftedschool.org BOOK CLUB IN JANUARY Ms. Bajgier's first session of 3rd-5th grade Book Club just wrapped up. The students had a great time reading a bestseller together, then meeting up for discussion and activities. If your child missed out, don't worry! She's running another session beginning on January 12th. This time, they will read Wonder Struck by Brian Selznick. Students must provide their own books. Book Club will be capped at 12 participants, on a first come-first served basis. **Please see Ms. Bajgier for a permission form, as students must have this completed before joining the group.** Meetings will be every Thursday from 3:40-4:20, until we finish the book! ELEMENTARY CROSS COUNTRY Parents - Please see the flyer attached for a cross country meet scheduled on January 21st. WINTER HOLIDAY CAMPS January 2nd - January 6th

LOOKING FOR AN INCREDIBLE CAMP FOR THE KIDS DURING THE WINTER BREAK? Do your kiddos love Minecraft, Pokemon, Pinterest, the Olympics or Spa-like environments? We have the perfect camp for you running the week of January 2nd through January 6th. The cost of the camp is $35 daily, or $150 for the week. We have earned $200 in one month just by taking pictures of our shopping receipts...and it is so easy and FUN! Don t be left out and PLEASE sign up today if you

haven t already! The top three Galileo Parents who earn the most points for the month of DECEMBER will earn a GET OUT OF UNIFORM FREE PASS FOR ONE DAY IN JANUARY.
