What does an Academic Sports Activator do? Provides a valuable link between academic departments and the department of sport Is responsible for organising a Ziggurat team from their own academic department and recruiting fellow students and staff to help coordinate the teams for each sport Gives feedback and advises on current student trends and requirements Attends monthly meetings throughout the year Promotes the university & the Sportspark to prospective students and visitors to the university If you are interested in becoming an Academic Sports Activator and would like more information please email studentsport@uea.ac.uk. Club Committee Members All of the clubs are run by the students for the students, offering a wide variety of opportunities to acquire new skills whilst making friends. Each UEA club has a committee who are experienced students who have been involved in either participating or administrating a particular club prior to becoming responsible for the overall running of a club. What does a Club President do? Provides a valuable link between the club, the Union and the department of sport and the local community Takes overall responsibility for the organisation of all activities on behalf of that club Gives feedback and advises on current student trends and requirements Attends monthly Club Presidents meetings throughout the year Promotes their sport to current and prospective students NGB Activators The National Governing Body (NGB) activators assist with the sports development programme offered to the various groups within our community. Working with the University (UEA), Sportspark (SP), Student Union (SU), Club Committees and Academic Sports Activators, the NGB activators develop, coordinate and promote their sport to the University. A key focus is the development of new opportunities for students, including skills such as refereeing and coaching. The Higher Education Officer is supported by their NGB &. Currently at UEA we have NGB activators in badminton, volleyball, rugby, football, tennis, netball and wheelchair basketball. For further information and a full list of contact details for our NGB activators please visit the uea sport website.
