New Zealand Rivers Association for Professional Guides NEWS Volume 13 - Issue 1 - August 2013 Hi all I know it s been a long time between newsletters. For that I apologise, there has been some preoccupation with the World Rafting Championships, and opportunities to chase up on material for Newsletters has been minimal. Firstly in the news front, in the last month Steve Brown has resigned from the Executive and his role of Chairman to undertake a position with Otago University. It is a loss to the Executive as with Steve s involvement with ONZ and within the Wellington scene it has given the NZRA a positive profile amongst other water industry sectors. We wish Steve well. Southy has stepped into the Chairmans role until the end of the year. The July deadline has passed for the transition audits over to Rule 81 with no big issues. Great to see MP with his industry knowledge out there undertaking these audits. Team numbers are looking good for the World Rafting Championships and looks like we will reach the targetted 70 teams entered. Back in May, Southy wrote to everyone with regards to the need for Industry to get in and support the World Rafting Championships. The time has now come where you can do something to help. 1) If you would like to volunteer in any role please go to the website and register - www.2013raftingworldsnz.com/volunteers.php?id=1 2) We are looking for the use of trailers/vans for at any stage during the event (Youth/Juniors commence 13th - 17th November, Open Masters 18th-24th). If you can assist please contact Steve McNab - 027 279 6961 3) We are looking for any plates/pots/cutlery/cups that visiting teams coming to train earlier and who are tenting at the Holiday Park could have (there are limited stocks available at the Holiday Park). If you can assist please contact Raewyn. 4) If you think of any other way that you can assist please contact Steve or any other members of the Committee - Troy Dolman, Frans Roozendaal, Sarah Uhl, Nick Chater, Martin Straka to name a few. Your help will be much appreciated. Raewyn
