HCRPC News NRA Senior Club April A Publication of the Haltom City Rifle & Pistol Club 2017 The new website is certainly generating comments, 99% good. As for the others, well yeah, we could have done it differently, sooner, later or not at all and we would still hear we did it wrong. It is what happens when you make a decision for a group of people. Some of them are going to disagree. I believe it is called free speech. I m glad we have it, and really, seriously, I want to hear what you think of the way we manage the club. The Members elect the board. If you have input we need to hear about it. All our contact info is on the web site so, feel free to communicate. Might be something we can change. Kraig Baum walked off with the set of BigEar custom fitted ear plugs at our raffle drawing in March. Also the member whose number was drawn for the monthly prize was not in attendence, Next Month we will be drawing a member s number for a $95 prize. If no one claims this amount, in May the drawing will be for $100 and we will draw till we have a winner. Also we have not had prize raffles for a couple months, so plan on a big one on April 5. The American Legion post where we meet has been suffering some money issues. I think they primarily fund their post through bar sales, with all-you-can-eat breakfasts and dinners lending a hand. Attendance at the bar has been very slow, so the Legion is looking for additional funding from members. We help with a monthly contribution to the post to offset the expense of using their building for our meetings. We appreciate your donations to the Post. It all helps, especially since we are the only club that pays any rent to the Post. The Maintenance Team poured the concrete for the 3rd row baffle footers! Just as soon as possible they will be placing the vertical supports for the baffles. Next comes the installation of the 45 degree supports for the baffles. Then the baffles themselves, which have an enormous tube for support on their back. The support and panels weigh some 4800 lbs. hence the need for the large concrete bases. The concrete truck apparently made it in and out (a couple of times) without being buried in mud. The crew leveled the ground after, and the area looks really good. Thanks again to the maintenance team for the safety and operational improvements to the range. The website for the club is going great, working recommendations in and getting members signed up for access. The Web site creators purposely made it members only access to protect our information about many things to do with the club. Schedules, member messaging and much of the other features of the site are restricted to members. The features of the site allow membership renewal online, a feature about 100 members have taken advantage of so far. Many members asked for the convenience of online renewals and the Board Committee tasked work long hour (all volunteers) to make this feature and many others available. Last, I would ask that all our members consider joining the Texas State Rifle Association (TSRA). The TSRA does at the state level, what the NRA does nationally. And seeing how Texas is a very second amendment friendly state, we should be glad and proud of the work this organization does on its members behalf. Alice Tripp is the legislative director for the TSRA and if you read her column each month in the TSRA magazine or online, you discover very quickly that she knows who is who in Austin. The organization, through Alice, watch the politicians in Austin, ensuring they remain true to the second amendment, or Alice quickly reminds the politician of the strength of the voter base TSRA represents. TSRA is responsible for License to Carry in Texas, along with many other freedom centric bills related to the ownership and use of firearms. It would do any gun owner a service, to join and support the TSRA. Be Safe and come out and shoot! - John Annual Meeting & Picnic Sunday, May 7, 2017 Lunch at 1130 - Meeting at 1300 Members wanting to attend the picnic must preregister by email or phone between April 8th & 22nd with the number of people in your party.
