20th Anniversary THE OFFICIAL NEWSLETTER OF THE NEW HAMPSHIRE AMATEUR BALLROOM DANCERS ASSOCIATION Footnotes MARCH 2008 VOLUME 21, ISSUE 3 President s Message Greetings friends of NHABDA I heard through the grapevine that the February 16th dance was a hit for everyone. We had 165 people attending the dance, with many staying right up to the end. My personal thanks go out to Shelly Butera for filling my shoes while Joe and I attended the Toby Keith (who?) concert at the Verizon that night. At the March dance during the band break we have a Toby Keith song that you can do a rumba to. Thanks also go out to Paper Moon for a fantastic bolero and showcase. (Sorry that I missed you.) I heard Rico Barr played some new tunes for everyone. Thanks guys! On Sunday, February 10th, the Outreach group performed at the Hanover Hill Nursing Home in Manchester. During the performance there was a gentleman that kept hitting on the women performers to dance with him instead of their partners. Well, at the end when we opened up the floor to the residents to join us, he wasn t to be found so he never got his chance. Also, as I was leaving a gentleman approached me in the hallway and said that he had wanted to dance with me but his friend got to me first. (Oh my!) We handed out red carnations to all of the residents and we all walked out feeling good about our volunteering for such a good cause. Thank you to everyone who performed that day. A board meeting was held at the Hannaford compound on Tuesday, February 19th. We discussed plans for the April Seminar, Founders Ball, and 2009 dates. Everyone was treated to homemade pizza and tomato soup. Our newbies, David and Lynne Townsend said as they were leaving that it was not a typical board meeting. No stuffy shirts here. We also want to welcome Irene Lisavich who attended her first board meeting. The very next day I left for a trade show in Las Vegas. At this show they always have a private party on the first night. This year it was Billy Joel (I believe that most of you know who HE is) who performed. What a great week I had Toby Keith and Billy Joel. I came back with $65. less in my pocket (not bad for three nights in Vegas). Continued on page 2 WOOD FLOOR! 10,000 DANCE-ABLE SQ. FT.
