Hopefully as we move into July our weather will perk up too. Our car show committee has been hard at work putting the final touches on our annual car show. But a couple of areas are still in need of attention: volunteers, raffle items, and sponsors. Our Show Chair will have the volunteer sign up sheets at our next general meeting so please come ready to sign up and help out. If you have any donations for the show raffle please bring them to the July meeting. Please, please, please get out there and pound the pavement for more show sponsors! We still have a dozen classes left open. Our car show is where we, as a club, earn the majority of our money for the year. We use this money for all of our monthly events, outings, and our holiday time charitable donations. Let's give one last push to fill up those empty class sponsors and volunteer spots for the show so we can continue to enjoy all of our fun activities throughout the year. As the Nation s Birthday approaches and we find ourselves going in so many different directions, don't forget to identify yourself on registration forms as Pierce County MC, instead of just PCMC as there is another club nearby that share our initials. On a personal note, a bunch of us from the club have banded together to form a Relay For Life team for the Sumner/Bonney Lake event on July 27th. As a fund raiser for our team, Matt and Kassandra Sparkmon are putting on a fun car event on July 14th, please consider coming out and joining in the fun to raise $$ to fight cancer. Tip of the Month: If you are planning on adding to your herd, or heaven forbid exchanging one of the Ponies, don't forget the MCA X Plan as an option when buying new. As a member of MCA (Mustang Club of America) it's just one of the many benefits you are eligible for. The X Plan will reduce the MSRP quite a bit, but you need to be a member of MCA for 6 months to be able to take advantage of this benefit, so plan ahead! Mustang of the Month The Rochefort Family And their String of Ponies This story begins in an AA meeting Ok, who is next? Hi, my name is Tom, and I m an AUTO-AHOLIC. I think I was born with a predisposition to it. I remember being about 5 years old and my mother asking me to name the cars that went by our house for the neighbor lady. I would name them all, make, model and year. They were amused. They had no idea that this was the beginning of a lifelong addiction. During my teen years, I was using occasionally, a part here and a part there it was all I could afford. But it just fueled the craving making me want more and more. Life didn t make it easy either. In high school, I was assigned auto shop as my home room. Then there was family, home and work that kept me from using but I knew that someday the craving would come back and take over. Then one day, many years later, on the side of the road, there was this guy that offered to sell me a little horse. It was pure and uncut. We agreed upon a price and I took it home. My wife was not happy. I think she was in denial about my addiction and a dark green 1966 Mustang Coupe was not her idea of a good time. It needed a few parts but not many. It fueled the craving again. My family said I had a one track mind. All I know is I needed more. Then I saw the 2012 Ford Mustang brochure. When I turned to the Boss 302 page, it said that the Boss had a one track mind. It seemed meant to be. When it started out, I just wanted a quiet blue one but by the time I left my dealer, my wife and daughter had talked me into a loud competition orange one. It seems they were starting to get addicted too. It came laced with a red key that left nasty track marks and if we were not careful, they would draw the attention of the police. My daughter, Stephani s addiction, has become a 2003 Redfire Mustang Coupe with pony package. She is now trying to afford, and install, her own parts to curb her cravings. Wow. What a story. Thank you Tom. Who is next? Hello. My name is Stephani *This story has been slightly embellished for entertainment purposes...mainly the part about Lori s addiction. Stephani and I are still working on getting her hooked. *The names in this story have NOT been changed to protect the innocent or Tom. ~Submitted by The Rochefort family. Page 5

A Tribute to Carol Shelby Several of us were waiting in the TMS (The Mustang Shop) parking lot eagerly awaiting 6:55 pm PDT when Shelby enthusiasts worldwide would pay tribute to the man himself, Carroll Shelby. Shelby owners and fans gathered across the world for the Rev Your Shelby salute. A live broadcast from the Peterson Museum in Los Angeles started around 6:55 pm PDT to countdown and commemorate the event. The Following is an excerpt from an Article By: Mark Vaughn on 5/31/2012 for autoweek.com. You can copy and paste this address to read the full article. http://www.autoweek.com/article/20120531/carnews/120539971#ixzz1wab5uw6n At approximately 6:55 p.m. Pacific Standard Time on Wednesday, May 30, around the world, the engines of several thousand Shelby Mustangs, Cobras, GT40s and even a few Series 1s cranked to life and roared their terrible roars in tribute to their fallen maker, Carroll Shelby. While untold numbers of enthusiasts watched on the Internet, the Petersen was ground zero for the worldwide Shelby tribute, where 1,200 of the faithful gathered to remember the man they loved and pay tribute to his legacy in the best way they knew how. When the engines finally fell silent after 7 p.m., the crowd retreated to the museum's main hall for an evening of reminiscing, hosted by car collector Jay Leno. The whole thing was called Carroll Shelby A Life Remembered. People ask me why I don't have any Ferraris, Leno said. Well, in all the pictures of him I never saw Enzo Ferrari smiling, and I never saw Carroll Shelby when he wasn't smiling. The museum was packed with racing greats and people who just liked Shelby. Parnelli Jones, Phil Remington, Don Prudhomme, Linda Vaughn, Ed Pink. The tributes ranged from the heartfelt to the hilarious, each one touching on a different aspect of Shelby's many-faceted life. Edsel Ford II talked about Shelby, whom he'd first met as a young man at Le Mans, spending five hours driving the GT500 at Ford's Arizona proving grounds during that car's development and smiling the whole time. So long Carroll. ~Contributed by Missy Willert Mission Statement To promote a better understanding and stronger fellowship in the preservation and maintenance of all Mustang and Shelby automobiles. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 15 minutes or until tender. Drain; cool slightly. Place potatoes in a large bowl. Place blue potatoes in a saucepan; cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer 10 minutes or until tender. Drain; cool slightly. Add blue potatoes, onion, parsley, dill, chives, and eggs to bowl; toss gently. Combine vinegar and remaining ingredients. Pour over potato mixture; toss gently to combine. Serve warm, at room temperature, or chilled. Note: Blue potatoes are starchier than the others and tend to bleed, so cook them separately. If you need to, prepare this dish a day ahead, but add the blue potatoes just before serving. If your potatoes are larger than the ones we call for, cut them to a uniform size.
