It was a very hot, harried and crowded day at Rotary Park a week ago on Saturday when our Rotary club met the thousands of participants who disembarked from their varied flotation devices, needing to be fed and rehydrated after their excursion in the sun. Special credit goes to Shirin McGraham who did a superlative job chairing Rotary's participation in this event. While the estimates of the numbers varied widely, the mayor says there were 5,500 paid participants in this year's Bullhead City River Regatta. Our thanks to all of the Rotarians, their family members and especially to those great Interact Club members who all pitched in and made this a successful event. We really could not have managed it without the Interactors' help. Please visit our Sponsors. To place your ad click here. For those of you who missed it, there are still some dirty pots and pans that got dumped in the kitchen downstairs at the Chamber of Commerce. Please call Mike Conner and arrange to go over and help clean these up. It's not fair to the Chamber staff to leave them there in that condition, for them to have to clean up after our event. At last report, the numbers were still being tallied. However, it appears that the funds we raised exceeded expectations. Again, thanks to all who helped!! Interact Club Leadership

Page 2 of 5 Meet Alyssa, Interact VP Serving as Interact's Vice President this year is Alyssa Folston, a Junior at Mohave High School. This is her third year in Interact, and she was one of the student leaders our club sent to RYLA earlier this year. Our club members will recall the enthusiastic report she gave to the club when she returned. Alyssa is also on the school track team and is an active member of the National Honor Society. She enjoys drawing, taking her dog for walks, going to the river and watching movies with her friends. In addition to her schedule at school, she also has a part-time job at Coldstone Creamery. Her mother is Patty Folston, who serves as the Business Relationship Manager at Mohave State Bank and is President of Women's Council. Alyssa also has a younger brother. After graduating from high school, she plans to attend a four-year university, and then to continue on in pursuit of her goal of earning a doctorate degree in psychology. Alyssa also has some lofty goals for the Interact Club this year. She says she wants "to do an amazing international project that will really get our members in touch with needs in foreign countries." She also wants to recruit more members for the Interact Club to help accomplish more service "and become involved in the community!!" There is no question that Alyssa is a leader who likes to help make things happen. We wish her well as she works in team with the other officers to make this one of the best years ever for Interact. Rotary campout/barbeque Scott needs to know! Scott Merrill says, "I need to know how many of you are interested in the Hualapai Mountain campout/barbeque that we have discussed at a couple of meetings. This will take some work to get it done; and if we don't have enough people committed to going, we may have to scratch the plan."

Page 3 of 5 Right now we have the Rotary Ramada, also known as Rec. Area 3, reserved for the 10th and 11th of October. The plan is to have lunch on Saturday, assorted games in the afternoon and evening, and then a dinner that night. For those spending the night, we would then have breakfast Sunday morning, before breaking camp and heading home. Please let Scott know ASAP - either by email or in person, if you plan on attending how many people you will have, and whether you plan to stay Saturday night. He needs to know by this Friday. Rotary Leadership Institute RLI is Saturday in Prescott Inn. The next sessions of the Rotary Leadership Institute (RLI) are being held in Prescott this Saturday, September 12, at the Hassayampa Our club will be represented this Saturday by Willie Richardson, Jim Richardson and David Brush. Chuck McMurry had hoped to attend, but was called to New Mexico when his nephew was critically injured in an automobile accident. TRF event at Havasu Put it on your calendar for Nov. 21 One of the best opportunities ever for BC Rotarians to get in on a major Rotary Foundation event is coming up in November and it's going to be almost next-door in Lake Havasu City, at the picturesque London Bridge Resort. Here are the highlights: Friday evening: Friendship Reception Saturday: Training and Clinics

Page 4 of 5 Saturday night: Tri-District Rotary Foundation Dinner Sunday morning: Celebrating Rotary Foundation Alumni Breakfast Stay tuned... and we'll tell you more, as the event gets closer. But for now, please save Saturday, Nov. 21, on your calendar! D-Backs benefit Rotary effort Few tickets are left Sept. 20. We learned today that there are a few tickets still left for the AZ Diamondbacks vs Colorado Rockies baseball game on Sunday afternoon, This is the special Arizona Rotary End Polio Now Awareness Day at Chase Field, when $10 from each ticket we sell goes to Rotary's End Polio Now Campaign along with the profits from the sale of the special Commemorative End Polio Now Awareness Day T-Shirts (cost is $10). There are also a few shirts left in certain sizes, but not many. Tickets for the game are $25 or $35 depending on where you want to sit in the stadium. If you want one or two of these remaining tickets, you must act quickly. Call Art or Sharon Harrington today at 763-1440. Last chance for GSE team Sept. 14 is deadline for GSE team member applications This is a final reminder that GSE Team Member Applications must be submitted by Sept. 14 for positions on the outbound team to District 3190 in India. If you know a really sharp, young (between 25 and 40) non-rotarian who has been employed in their profession for 2 years or more this is really an incredible opportunity. But they must act quickly. Group Study
