PLEIADES NETBALL CLUB WELCOME PACK FOR SEASON 2013/2014 Pleiades Welcome Pack Page 1 19/08/2013

Welcome to Pleiades Netball Club. Over the next few pages we will try and describe the club in more detail. You should find lists of who does what, which leagues we play in, when we train and how much it costs. As with any club there are a certain number of administrative rules and regulations which you will find described, including who the club officials are, and how we try and run things. Don t be put off by these they just make everyone s life a bit easier. We are very proud to have been awarded our Bronze Clubmark award by England Netball. This means that we are a well run club that manages itself to a high set of standards that England Netball has measured us against. Our website is: www.pleiadesnetball.co.uk Pleiades Welcome Pack Page 2 19/08/2013

The Club Pleiades has 4 senior squads that play on a Saturday in competitive leagues Surrey, Croydon and Met. We also have a junior squad for children between the ages of 11 and 16. We are represented in: Surrey League - Premier A and Premier C Met League Divisions 2, 3 and 5 Croydon League Division 4 We enter teams in various rallies that are held at the beginning and end of the season, and go on tour once a year. We also arrange social events over the course of the year. Pleiades Website: www.pleiadesnetball.co.uk We have a club website, which is kept up to date. It is a good source of information on fixtures, up and coming events, umpires, availability and names and addresses. Once you are a paid up member of the club you will be given a password that gives you access to everyone s names and addresses. Only certain club members are able to change information on the site. If you have any ideas of how we can make it better, please let us know. Training and Matches The club trains on Wednesday night between 7:30 and 9:30 at Warlingham High School, Tithe Pit Shaw Lane, Warlingham, Surrey, CR6 9YB We train outside under floodlights, September and October and then indoors from November to March, then back outdoors for April and May. We have qualified coaches who run training and come to watch us play on Saturday as well as support coaches, for more individual feedback. Pleiades Welcome Pack Page 3 19/08/2013

Training consists of fitness, netball skills, drills and a few competitive games. The majority of our matches are played on a Saturday morning. Home matches are played at Warlingham High School, away matches are usually around Croydon, although some take us to Guildford and Farnham but not very often. We always provide our opposition with a cup of tea and sandwiches/cakes at full time and oranges at half time. You will be asked to take your turn. This is done at the beginning of the season and changes are made if required in January. Weekly team line ups and rotations are managed by the squad captains. They are discussed at training the week before a match and are confirmed via email. Selections are also on the club website. Rules and Regulations Selection is made from a pool of players who are believed to be available. Captain s decision is final please keep them informed if you are unhappy with anything to do with selection. Marion Perry keeps a track on the website of all the players availability for selection. It is up to you to let her know when you aren t available to play please email her on mandmperry@sky.com or text on 07710 281034. We ask that you give as much advanced notice as you can if you cannot play on a Saturday. Players are expected to attend training regularly, as match selection is also based on training attendance. If you can t attend training, please let our coach Linda know, so she can manage her training appropriate to those attending. You also need to let your Captain know and confirm availability for the weekend. Pleiades Welcome Pack Page 6 19/08/2013

Whenever possible the selection will be for a squad of 8 or 9 players to attend matches. The Captain will rotate players during the game so that everyone gets part of a game. On the website you can always find a current copy of our Constitution, our Codes of Conduct and our Equity Policy Statement on the Club Documents page.
